LEGION on FX
« on: February 22, 2017, 10:22:58 PM »
Anyone else watching? Three episodes in and I think it's great. It's a fresh 'feel' due to the way they are shooting the show, the backstory of the main character David.....it's all really well done IMO.

And this coming from someone who's not married to anything Marvel....in fact, I've only seen Iron Man and Guardians of the Galaxy. I like how this show doesn't rely on any other parts of that universe (other than there are mutants) to tell the story.

Only saw the pilot (will watch episode 2 tonight) but I loved it.

It was brilliant and so god damn confusing (minus the bad CG at the end). My only fear was having something like a guest director for the pilot do a brilliant job, then the rest doing standard stuff. We'll find out!

Yeah, bat pilot was certainly intended to 'feel' confusing to put us in Davids shoes. But it was still done so well....and the subsequent episodes haven't fallen off that pace.

I'm following the show, and I'm definetely in for this weird ride. The "devil with yellow eyes" intrigues me a lot.

Saw second episode. Good, not as good as the pilot, but that's what I expected. Still very interested in seeing where it goes. Really great performances all around as well.

Caught episode # 3 last night.

That is some messed-up shit.  This show is batshit crazy.

Latest episode was pretty trippy, and funnier than previously. It's always been pretty fun, but this week it seemed to get really playful with its concepts.

This whole series thus far has been extremely weird in a good way. it really is such a unique presentation of a story. Can't get enough of it.

Man, this show. It is difficult to put into words 'what' this show is largely due to how unique it feels. The story has been good....but it's unlike anything I've seen on TV.

I tried to describe this show to my mom, who was diagnosed schizophrenic in her 20's (I question the actual diagnosis) but I never have a clue how to describe it without just trying to describe certain scenes, which is also hard.

Imagine how hard it is writing this thing.

Yea, this episode was just truly horrifying.

It's odd, since I know a bit more about the character from the comics. So I see what they're doing, but I can't tell if they're going where the comics went, or if they're just going in a different direction.

Spoilers below (out of respect)

So in the comics, David has hundreds of alternate personalities, each one fully controls a different aspect of his powers, but in the show they're talking about a parasite inside him instead. Not sure if they're going to be incorrect about the parasite or if they're changing it up. However, that scene from an episode or two ago of David screaming in the astral plane with dozens of other unknown characters yelling at him kind of hinted at the comics way of doing things.

I'm not a reader of the comic this is based off, but I read your spoiler anyway because I'm curious like that and:

what if those dozens/hundreds of other people we've seen yelling at him ARE the personalities from the comic.....all trying to implore David to stand up to this 'entity' and defeat it so they and he can be freed? It seems like shouting and hazing and yelling due to the fact that they are all desperate to escape that things control, know 'they' can't do anything about it that it has to be David who defeats it? Once he does....he gains all their ability or whatever/however the comic version is?

Just two episodes in at this point, but have to say that the pilot episode blew my frigging mind. It is probably some of the best television I've seen in recent years.
From the ocean comes the notion that the realise lies in rhythm. The rhythm of vision is dancer, and when you dance you´re always on the one. From the looking comes to see, wondrous realise real eyes....

This weeks episode went completely off the rails again. I'm hoping next week will bring us back around to a more coherent story.

Also, when did this show have a coherent story? lol.

The "and I feeeeel good" song coming on and Lenny busting out into a dance may be my favorite moment of the show so far. I loved that.

Wow. The only bummer about that episode is the fact that there's only (1) episode left now.  :lol     This show is insane.

Finally caught up on this one. This show is quite the show. I know very little of Legion in animation as I'm not a huge comic type fan and it doesn't matter because I got hooked right away on the style of the presentation that the writers and directors have given. Very trippy type of episodes that remind me of the way I felt when the original Twin Peaks was airing way back when and maybe even some of the eps. of Mr. Robot, to be more recent. I mean, sheesh, Chapter 6 was literally insane with no normalcy whatsoever. Thank goodness Chapter 7 tied it together more because I was lost after 6. LOVE THIS SHOW!  :metal

On a side note, I wonder if anyone bothered to count how many times we heard someone saying "David". I'm thinking maybe 50 or more??? :tup

Latest episode was good, but was by far the most straight forward, direct episode of the series.

I get that they have to wrap it up by next episode and thus have to at least try to make coherent sense, but I really could have watched the insanity of the first 6 episodes forever.

Also, the brief image of Professor X's wheelchair was nice.

Loved the season and this show.....but the Finale was the weakest episode of them all IMO. Still a good episode but when stacked up against the rest of them it was my least favorite.

???  No way!  I thought it was a great episode, and a great ending to this season.

That aftercredits scene though!  :eek
