I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

hell yea, been listening to Haken a lot to prep for Saturday.  I actually hadn't dug into most of their music beyond Affinity and a few other tracks until recently.  Really loving Visions, maybe moreso than Affinity.  Just so damn good.  :metal

I've been doing my homework on Visions this week as well. Starting to enjoy it more (and I never disliked it), but their first two albums are still a step below their more recent output for me.

We go into a change freeze at noon then tomorrow is our last summer half day friday, but my boss gave us all the permission to work from home for 4 hours in the morning then "fuck off" which is awesome, no one is working once noon hits today anyway so it'll be nice and quiet and then a 4 day weekend.  :metal It's been a busy month with all 5 members of the team doing traveling so my boss and coworker finally come home tomorrow, so it's really just a wasted day of "work" anyway.  Pumped for college football starting this weekend, my gf lives in New Brunswick next to the Rutgers campus so we are going to chill there tomorrow night as they get spanked by Washington, PSU game noon Saturday then Haken in NYC in the evening.  Rest and chill Sunday and Monday with friends and family.  I'm pumped for the weekend.  :metal
