It's funny because the dude he plays for (Rick Miller Band if anyone is interested) is actually a metal head. He grew up in Texas in the late 80s and early 90s. He saw Metallica play during the Ride The Lightning tour, and is a Dream Theater fan. I discovered that last year while hanging out back stage at an unsigned showcase thing. Over heard him talking to their guitar player (who is big into bluesy and jazzy shit) about Dream Theater. I showed him my tattoo and he tripped out.


So the singer and main songwriter is a country loving Texan with metal roots, the lead guitar player is a blues guy, the bass player is a prog nerd who plays a 6 string and likes to noodle Dream Theater bass bits in between songs, and the drummer is a big Zeppelin fan who plays in a local Zep tribute band.

So they really are far from your average country bar band.

I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

It wasn't important enough for its own thread, but last several days I was on holiday in Copenhagen, and I totally ran into Mads Mikkelsen by complete accident  :lol

I was in the pictoresque Nyhavn port zone, and a street was being temporarily sealed off because there was a movie shooting. By the time I enter the now free street from the other end to take pictures (they blocked the street only a short while), I'm there with just the photos in mind and I just happen to walk by Mads beneath an umbrella (it was raining), while he was speaking with, well, dunno if they were fellow actors or people from the production. I just told him "Hey man, you're awesome" giving him a thumbs up, and he replied with the same gesture, haha!

I met Hannibal and he didn't eat me :metal

Hey Cram.  The Wifey and I are seeing The Neal Morse Band tonight.  First we are going to a Bar called Drink.  There are no drink menus.  You tell them what mood you are in, or what booze you like.  Paint a picture and they will make a drink up on the spot, really creative.  Food looks good there too!

In Boston.  The Concert is at The Wilbur theater.  Cool place to see a band.  I've been there to see the musical "Rent" that was right after it premiered in NY and I've seen Jim Gaffigan there Twice.

Don't get me started with the boarding process  :lol People are crazy.  Same with getting off the plane.  People act like it's so important to be on or off the plane first and would choose to be a dick to do so.  I don't get it.  Everyone's going to the same place.

Now, I do like boarding early only to make sure I can put my carryon up top and not have to check it, but I'm not going to cut people to do that.

I don't know! :lol  First drink I told him I was into Whiskey and bourbon and I wanted it bold. I wanted it to make me pull back and say wow.  It did!

The second drink I told him I am Lebanese and to make me a middle Eastern drink.  It was awesome.

The 3rd drink I told him my wife and I have been married over 22 years and I wanted to encompass our love together and we would share that drink.  He knew my love for bourbon and her love for gardening so he had this drink made with herbs.
