Reap, here's a video of my Donkey Kong remake so far. It doesn't normally look this jittery, but I had to run it at higher res, plus recording messes it up a bit too. Also excuse the random shit like the floating gopher and the random particle effect. :lol

Interesting times around here...

-I accept the offer to join the band, less than 48 hours, the drummer quits (I don't think it was because of me!), first gig is two and a half weeks out, I've only played 4/12 songs with them, and the set is half originals, and half radically reworked covers.  This should be interesting.

-Wife's grandmother died over the weekend, and it was a "good riddance, bitch" kind of passing.  Not to go all P/R, but it's all well and good that Jesus allegedly forgives, but that doesn't address that the person was a monster in life.  The Jesus thing is a convenient way for family members to shrug off the damage that woman did to my wife when she was a little girl.

This is actually playable, correct? The sonic one was just video.

Yeah, this one's actually a playable game, whereas the Sonic one was entirely fake/animated. But the basic idea to make a video from it will be the same.

So what is your plan for the game then?  Make a full game out of it?  Make an app to play it?  Or just for fun

I only plan to remake the first level of the game for a video like the Sonic one, and if that does well, maybe remake another level, we'll see how it goes. But it's definitely not to make a full game or to let anyone else play it. Nintendo would C&D my ass so quick. :lol My Sonic video is my most viewed by far, so I figure this might do well too.

Yea totally, but what is the point of making a playable game then?  Just to do it?  Your Sonic video did well so I'd think this one would also do well.

Animating the whole thing manually is kinda tedious (I gave up animating half way through the level with the Sonic one :lol ), and it locks me in to the original gameplay. With all of the detail that will be in there, it works out just as easy to make a real game. And in the long run it pays off more each time I make a video from it. Also it's fun and I'm learning a lot for making my own games in future.
I made a playable game when I did my Lego Doctor Who videos too-

:lol Yeah, it seems a bit counter-intuitive, but the more complex the game and also being an entirely made up, it made sense. I was able to make that second video very quickly after the first one, which I couldn't have done if it was just animated. I still plan to make more Lego games for other franchises.
Also, no rendering time, because it's realtime. That's a huge plus.

Does anyone here have a recent version of Adobe Illustrator? I have a file I can't open because it's too recent for my version (I have CS6), and was hoping someone could just open this file and resave it in an older format for me. Quick job.

Yeah, I've looked, but they only convert the flattened image, which I can do myself in Photoshop or in a roundabout way in Illustrator, but I need all of the hidden file stuff retained, like the guides.
I'll probably be fine either way, but it would have been nice to use this template file properly.

Not unless any of you guys want to see Gettysburg on Monday. I love Gettysburg but have toured several times, so I won't stick around to do anything myself that day. If that's the case then I'll leave around 11am and be around around 1pm, so it's kinda like a half day off at home then.
