You know what's funny is I have read your work posts for years and I just stepped into a BA and dev role and holy hell I completely understand your complaints. Sad thing is I make way too much to leave

This is what I'm trying to avoid.

The thing is, I don't think the BA role is actually that bad. I mean, I never loved it, but we transitioned from waterfall methodology to agile recently and it put it over the top. I'm also working in insurance. I couldn't have selected a more boring subject that I have literally negative interest in. If I was a BA for a company I gave a damn about, something like Tesla or SpaceX, I probably wouldn't hate it as much. I'm sure I'd still bitch all the time, but Sundays wouldn't be ruined by the thought of going into work on Monday. At least I'd feel like I was part of something I felt was worthwhile.

The boredom. I worked in IT for the past year, call center stuff tier 2 & 3 type issues. I really lied it because it required critical thinking 90% of the time and the problems that got escalated to me were often unqiue and highly technical, the pay was shit. When I joined Wells the job description made it sound intriguing and the pay made it even better. Turns out all I do is compare spreadsheets most of the day. I look at employees that have been here for a while and they do the same and just look busy all day.

"look busy all day"  I honestly hate that the most of any job and one of the reasons why I like my current job since I work remotely, there is no one I need to look busy for.  When there is work, I am on it, if things are slow, I am on DTF and don't need to hide it.

Yea. Basically I've been learning what the team isnresponsiblenfor by doing their jobs. I can be done with everyone's reports by 2pm typically, all 4 employees.

No DTF for me unless it's on my phone

Reddit is the front page of the internet!


Basically, Reddit is a message board of sorts. It has thousands of "sub reddits" or sub boards, for anything you can think of from world news, cute animal pictures, Bondage Porn, Music, etc. People submit things (links, pictures, text posts), and there's an up/down vote system for submissions as well as comments.

Reddit is the reason I disappeared from DTF for a while a year or so ago (not that anyone noticed ).

Reddit is great, but having THAT many people on a social site has it's issues. Users on Reddit took it upon themselves to help ID the suspect(s) in the Boston Marathon Bombing. They scoured through pictures and Identified someone, found their name and what not and started harassing the person's family (mind you the dude had disappeared after the bombing). The FBI actually released the suspects' info early due to this witch hunt, which is suspected to be what caused them to come out when they did, and caused the shooting of that cop and all that bullshit.

The guy which Reddit had IDed actually killed himself. I don't think it was related to the actual event (since he was missing before he was IDed).

That's the kind of thing that happens when you have THAT many people in a forum together.
