Was HK the song that was never played in it's final form?

Well, that was what I had in mind when I originally posted that.  But then after someone guessed it and Scotty posted that that song had actually been played a couple of times, I posted that Scotty's correction was...correct.

No problem with that! Thanks for all the hints and clues you posted about the set  :)

I like TSCO, but I wish they would bring back Home or BTL.

Agree. TSCO has been played A LOT in recent years.
It sounds like, "ruk, ruk, ruk, ruk, ruk." Instead of the more pleasing kick drum sound of, "gzarruk, gzarruk, gzarruk, gzarruk."

HK but no LITS? :sadpanda: If TSCO is getting played, then I bet As I Am is coming up soon as well, being another of last year's encore songs.
Not sure why, but my gut feeling is that the other encore oldie PMU is gonna be in the setlist too....

As a basic rule, if you hate it, you must solely blame Portnoy. If it's good, then you must downplay MP's contribution to the band as not being important anyway, or claim he's just lying. It's the DTF way.

TSCO feels overplayed, but is also basically a foregone conclusion in what is more or less a "greatest hits" tour by any other name. I was expecting the list to be far more conventional than what's been played so far, so I can't get too grumpy about (yet another!) TSCO.

intro
The Dark Eternal Night
The Bigger Picture
Hell's Kitchen
The Gift of Music
A Life Left Behind
Our New World
keyboards + The Spirit Carries On

Is this correct so far?

Other than the fact that you have JP playing keyboards, yes.
Wait, which one's the stringy one

Damn, aside from the first 3 songs or so, this setlist is kind of dull, no? More of the "been there, done that" variety. Oh well. Looking forward to see what the encore is and a big "Hellyeah" for TBP! :tup

Definitely surprised that this one didn't make it, or Moment of Betrayal for that matter. Bosk, what was the song you were commenting earlier that lended itself to be perfect for a guitar solo? TSCO?

9th song, according to setlist.fm, is Breaking All Illusions.  I presume that's the last one in the first part of the set before moving to Images and Words?

The setlist on setlist.fm is the right one, unless it has been edited by darketernal. So I think we could say that BAI is going to end the first set.

TBH I'm not that thrilled by it either, but it makes sense for DT to do a safer setlist after only playing TA in full for the majority of last year's tour. Oh well, I&W is the main course of this tour anyway, and based on the hints the encore will be awesome.

My buddy said the first set looks like someone put DT on shuffle,  and then just jotted down what played.  "yup.  That's gonna be the set!"
I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces
