Not irritating but I do find it amusing when you say you're not a fan of a band that someone likes and they insult *YOU* back.

It's like wtf :lolpalm: you're not in the band chill out.

dtf.org is my home page.

Also, I have ranted on being in the car with my wife driving. I have told her from now on I will not be giving directions, she must use Google Maps on her phone. So today we were going somewhere (it was dark and very rainy, so I granted her a little leeway), and the app says "Turn right to enter Highway 525..." and she drives past the on ramp as she points and says (to me, because, presumably, the app doesn't respond to queries) "Was that where I was supposed to turn? Why didn't you say anything?"

What is irritating. I personally can't stand being in the car with my wife, she is the worst backset driver I have ever met. It got so bad at one point that I refused to take any trips with her unless she got it under control.

Do you have a set homepage when you turn on your computer?

DTF.

Yeah, so there's that..

Google is my homepage.

I don't mind MSN either.  It's a simple layout.

I like it. It gives me the headlines and news. It doesn't feel biased in its layout. There's sports and entertainment, even local headlines.

But I totally  when they talk about people like they're major stars and I've never heard of them.
Well, TAC, I'm with you.  And I'd extend it slightly farther:  what passes for "stars" these days is awful slim.   For me, a star is someone you've heard of even if you're not into them.   I don't have to like Robert DeNiro to know who he is; that's a star.  Rock Hudson; never saw one of his movies, but I know who he is. STAR.  Even when I GOOGLE them I'm not sure who "Tayshia Adams" and "Zac Clark"are; NOT STARS.

I always thought that was a bit silly in The Flintstones etc when EVERYTHING was named after a rock or stone or a pebble etc.

Like cartoons about dogs where the house is dog shaped the car is dog shaped they work in a dog shaped building etc.

And in Star Trek when the alien of the week - their race is the same name as their planet.

It would be like all humans being from a planet called Human. Not even American English Italian Spanish etc... Just Human. So there's only one race of Klingons on the entirety

of Qonos ?

How about Errol Flynn?

Well, TAC, I'm with you.  And I'd extend it slightly farther:  what passes for "stars" these days is awful slim.   For me, a star is someone you've heard of even if you're not into them.   I don't have to like Robert DeNiro to know who he is; that's a star.  Rock Hudson; never saw one of his movies, but I know who he is. STAR.  Even when I GOOGLE them I'm not sure who "Tayshia Adams" and "Zac Clark"are; NOT STARS.

Well...I googled, so I now know who Tayshia and Zac are, but I couldn't give a rip.

My wife and I have an agreement.  A sports star is not "famous" unless she's heard of him/her, and actors/actresses are not famous unless I've heard of them.

And in Star Trek when the alien of the week - their race is the same name as their planet.

It would be like all humans being from a planet called Human.

Or...you know...the inhabitants of Earth being called earthlings.  How crazy is that!

I wholeheartedly agree with Stadler, but I think it worth noting there have been, and always will be, people who are famous simply for being famous.

Quite irritating.....idiots that do fireworks at ANY time, much less off and on until 1AM on their drunken stupor holiday nights.

1150pm to 1210Am.... I hate it, but I get it.  Earplugs and a fan and noise machine will do the trick.  But there comes a point....and sure is stressful to older people, dogs....oh, and veterans.  And to hell to anyone who has to get up at 4 or 5am to get ready for work.

This morning it was comical. I was watching TNG on Netflix and when the clock turned 00:00 to Jan 1 - I heard exactly ONE firework and one " Waaaayyyyy "..  :rollin.

Then silence again. It couldn't have been more like a comedy sketch.

There have been fireworks going off nightly since before Xmas in my neighborhood, sometimes past 1AM. People just don't give a shit how their actions affect other living beings.

When you run out of Toner at work but you know it's in the yard.  Wal Mart is so far behind that it's in a trailer outside in the yard and now I have to run to Staples.

As good a place as any:

https://youtu.be/qmb5ENInqVk

Two tips:
- DO watch for the TON of easter eggs (WTF, Kepler, Taylor Swift, phone in the movie theater...)
- DO NOT under ANY circumstances, read the comments.  You WILL damage your computer/screen

(And the follow-up: https://youtu.be/OTmozhwk9rw)

Who/what is Kepler?  And I assume the Taylor Swift reference was the song in the background?

Also, I hadn't seen the first one before, but I did see the follow up.  I wonder if that's the actual mask that Tim Curry wore in Legend or just a really good recreation.

- Taylor Swift is the song itself.
- Kepler is a reference to late in the first commercial there is a "#Kepler1649c" graffiti, referencing what scientists believe now is the planet discovered to date that is most like Earth in terms of composition and potential for (Earth-like) life.

I haven't a clue who Rock Hudson is.  :lol

Ok, Tim.

 :lol

Quite frankly the name sounds made up! *said in Kramer's voice.

"Rock Hudson" was Roy Harold Scherer, Jr.'s stage name.

He was a MAJOR heartthrob in his day.  It didn't come out until he was dead and buried that he was gay and had to hide his sexuality for most of his life  :(

I think most would not have been surprised with his stage name.

I'm as straight as a flagpole but it's encouraging with how far we've come with the sexuality being public type of thing.

On the topic of things that I find mildly irritating:

"Covidiots"

These are the people who enter the gym wearing a face mask then promptly and permanently position it below their chin for the rest of their time in the gym, while simultaneously and with no regard for the safety of others, violating your personal space and breathing all over you without a mask while you're trying to do your workout in peace and away from other people.  It's almost as if they're purposely trying to get a rise out of people.

I call them "Covidiots" and I'm constantly having to ask them to respect my personal space.  Some of them look at me like I just said, "hey, let me see your penis"  :justjen

Same and I agree wholeheartedly.  Holding someone's sexual preference against them as some kind of fault is like telling someone they're an asshole because they've got brown hair.  It's nonsensical and kind of ignorant.  It is pretty amazing how relatively quickly things have change though, especially in the last decade or so.  I mean, we're about to have a member of the president's cabinet be the first openly gay cabinet member in history.  We've come a long way, but we still have more work to do.
