Yeah, I love that one!
Back in high school, I was a short-order cook in a pancake house in Lansing, MI (back when you could do crazy things like have high school kids running a restaurant) and I was working a dinner shift. Being a pancake house, we didn't get super busy in the evenings, but offerred sandwiches and some entrees. Think Denny's, except with edible food. At some point, one of the waitresses came to the passbar and handed me a five dollar bill. What's this?
She says it's from the guy who had the ribeye dinner. He said it was the best steak he'd ever had there or anywhere else, and he had to tip the cook as well as the waitress. In seven years of cooking short order, I managed to get compliments from time to time, but this was my first and only actual tip. Five bucks back in the 70's, for a high school kid, that was a lot of money (enough to get a nickel bag, heh heh).
