Someone (jokingly?) started an even on Facebook to gather people together and "storm area 51", with the tag line "they can't stop all of us!"

There are like 150k people who rsvp'd to the event.

Some people think it's real.

It's just like a Facebook event I joined... Getting people together to "tape up the San Andres Fault"

I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

Probably would take a lot of duct tape, but it could work.

I chaperoned a high school ski trip back in the day (my good friend was the teacher bringing the troup to Montreal) and me and another chaperone had them absolutely convinced that eevrything was extraneous but duct tape and a good sharp rock.

Basically for the entire trip, we'd be on the slopes or in the hotel and we'd get "hey, what about [insert task]" and it was on us to come up with a way of doing it with nothing but duct tape and a good sharp rock.  Good times.

So a few of the episodes of Six Feet Under on HBO Nordic (HBO for Sweden, Norway Denmark) has had the word "fuck" replaced by the word "shit" for some reason (censorship or whatnot).

This has caused a few problems in scenes where the former was used as a verb, not an expletive.

It's funny. When you hear people up there that are really bad with that they sound like deaf people. I want to reply by yelling slowly and mouthing out the words very deliberately. I ran into woman in Connecticut running a restaurant turning out exceptionally good breakfasts and I couldn't understand a word she said. It was strange because the natives would speak to her in perfect English and she'd reply in gibberish and they all got along just fine, like there was nothing odd about it. Not for me, though.

Ma'am, that was a fantastic omelette. Y'all do great work here.

Well, that's a good obscure '80s reference right there.  :tup

I don't blame that guy.

Some states allow lottery winners to collect their winnings anonymously, but if I ever win, I become part of a public record.  My name (and probably some personal details) will be in the papers, or at least on some website somewhere.  People can find me and know that I'm a new millionaire.

I've heard that in some ways, it's a pain in the ass winning the lottery because all of your friends and relatives come out of the woodwork wondering if you're going to share the good fortune, and a bunch of charities and organizations you've never even heard of are right behind them.

Or thugs home-invade you figuring to make off with all the bling you purchased the first week. Seems to me the smart move would be to just spend some of your newfound millions procuring a new identity and faking your own death, a la Rory B. Bellows.

Yep, that too.  We get up to a year to come forward and claim the money.  It would drive me crazy the whole time, but I would spend that time consulting with lawyers and financial advisors, and arranging to move to another state, possibly another country.  I step forward, claim the money, then disappear.  My name is common enough that if someone with my name shows up in another part of the country, or Canada, someone might be able to link me to the guy who won a bunch nearly a year ago, but I'd lower the odds of that happening as much as possible.

I read somewhere once that a lottery winner paid a lawyer to claim the price and remain anonymous.

I volunteer.

My concern is less the vultures - though that's a concern - but I know my family pretty well.  Winning a multi-million dollar lottery WOULD create resentment with some, of that I have no doubt.  But that creates a different concern:  if you "give", it's almost worse than if you give nothing, becuase it's the same problem that we see in the P/R threads.  $10 million for ME is a massive amount, and life-changing.  But I can't give $10 million to 20 people.  Even if I gave half of my prize away, it's around $200,000 (round numbers) to 25 people, with (possibly) another tax burden... I can absolutely see someone saying "You fuck; you won $10 MILLION, and all you gave me was $200k? Cheap bastard."    That to me is worse than a charity hounding me.
