Greatest Movie Hitmen

So, I just finished watching Lucky Number Slevin and as always I root for the hitmen. Whether they're the bad guys or good guys, it doesn't matter. There are so many to choose from. Whether they come from a more comical film such as Martin Blank or someone in a more serious role like Leon. Who are your favorites? I'll just name the first few that come to mind.

Antonio Banderas/Sylvester Stallone in Assassins - extremely underrated film
John Travolta/Samuel Jackson in Pulp Fiction - nothing more needs to be said
Richard Bright in The Godfather trilogy
Anne Parillaud in Nikita - Female assassin, very sexy
Tom Cruise in Collateral

That's definitely one of my favorites, especially him taking Mathilda under his wing. I remember there were talks of them making a sequel but I guess it never happened.

Hmmmm, in so much that they always failed to deliver, yea.

Reminds me of how Kevin Smith described the Death Troopers from Rogue One. "They're basically Storm Troopers that can aim"

I was thinking the same thing.  Vincent was awful in particular, since he got killed because he left his gun on the kitchen counter in the home of the guy he was supposed to kill, while he was busy hitting the head.

So hot. Want to touch the hiney. I love tough, badass chicks. I like girls that can hold their own. That's really the only one's Im attracted to.


And the vincent vega thing. Yeah, he definitely sucks as a hitman. My initial though was like "greatest" as in most memorable or one's I most enjoyed watching. As an actual hitman, he sucks.

If by the best in the field I would agree but in stature I would think they are up there.

Same here. I've always been a fan of his. He's obscure and I like that in an actor. He makes some really great movie choices. Gross Pointe Blank was a must see for me when it came in the theater. One of my favorite actors playing an assassin in a dark comedy. That's a trifecta for me.

Tom Cruise in Collateral

A criminally (buhdumpsh) underrated role for Cruise. I remember when the Academy Awards came out with their nominations that year, it was Jamie Foxx was nominated, and not Cruise. Not to take anything away from Foxx, who was also fantastic, but Cruise had   the best performance in that film.

Vincent was awesome.  He would be my second choice, right after Martin Blank.

Trivia: The character was written as Vincent Collateral.  That's right, "Collateral" was his last name, thus the name of the movie.  Tom Cruise thought that that was stupid and convinced Michael Mann to change it to just Vincent.  The only remaining reference to the title is a scene where Max (Jamie Foxx) says something about just being collateral.

Seriously.  When I read that, I thought it was a good move all the way around.  Apparently there's a deleted scene where his last name is confirmed.  Ultimately, it doesn't actually contradict anything so it still works.  Some would say that the deleted scene reveals his last name, but since hit men don't exactly use their real names anyway, it's a moot point.

Personally, I like the idea that "collateral" comes from Jamie Foxx's line, how he's just collateral in all this.  I like movies where the title isn't obviously connected to things in the movie, or you have to take a second to figure out why it is what it is.

Same here. I prefer some obscurity with films. With the lack of decent comedies these days, I find independent films far more satisfying. Big budget films are boring these days, unless they have a decent plot.
