DTF 2017 Release Date Calendar
« on: December 05, 2016, 12:49:17 PM »
I was going to wait to do a little more research and review to compile a more extensive list, but it seems people already want a calendar to look at already.

But the confirmed release dates and even titles are pretty thin right now from my radar, however I imagine there's a lot of stuff I'm missing that others can confirm or have me add to.

Elbow, Zach De La Rocha, Sepultura, etc. (from the links/lists below)

Of course sites like Wikipedia have a list:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_2017_albums

And Rateyourmusic already has a chart (many rated of course even though none of them have been released):
https://rateyourmusic.com/charts/top/album/2017

And Metacritic:
https://www.metacritic.com/browse/albums/release-date/coming-soon/date

Great! I'm glad you took this over, I really kept forgetting about keeping this thing updated lately.

As for my contribution for now:

January:

17: Need - Hegaiamas: A Song for Freedom
This first band is Soen very cool swingy jazz fusion kinda stuff.

thanks Evermind. Yeah i already have my own list I keep in my blog (which includes November and December).

But I added yours and scanned through the other topic and added everything I think there.

I'm sure I would be bombarding whoever else would be keeping this list as I do see plenty of titles and release dates (and updates/changes) a lot, so it'll be easier for me to just go ahead and edit them in now here.

Soen just announced an album set for February 3rd 2017, called "Lykaia" I think. Or "Conceding a Severed Utopia". The announcement isn't very clear about which is the album name.
I feel strangely honored to be following up a post from Sir Walrus Cauliflower.

Ayreon should be in a different category, it's been confirmed that the album is coming out in 2017

Both Gary Cherone and Nuno have confirmed Extreme have been working on new material and a new album should hopefully be ready Spring/Summer 2017.

alright, I updated it to include a "Confirmed/Likely to be Released"

but it's kind of a gray area there.

Until they give an actual title or release date, nothing is all that concrete. I suppose if it's Radiohead, that info won't come until the week before it's released, but so be it.

Update on BBT's Grimspound-  Greg posted today that the album is finishing up now and has a targeted release date of sometime in April, less than a year after Folklore!

In last year's thread, there was a "I'll believe it when I hold the album in my hands" section.  I guess the same should apply this year for GNR and Tool.

May:  Byzantine - The Cicada Tree (per a video on their facebook page)

Two thoughts:  1) Can we not have a "speculation / hope" section?  I hate chasing rumors, it adds a lot of clutter to a page that is useful.  Because most of us are only interested in a fraction of the information on the page, keeping it limited to released and officially announced material would keep clutter down.  Furthermore, that section never got updated or fact checked in the past before Evermind took over and largely did away with it.

2) Could people post a link or a source to news if they post information on a band (like I did).

if that happens, than the list ends up being pretty short.

This is how it would look then:

Quote
January
17: Need - Hegaiamas: A Song for Freedom
20: Pain of Salvation - In the Passing Light of Day

February
3: Big Wreck - Grace Street
3: Soen - Lykaia (rym has this as the title)
10: Blackfield - V
10: Thunder - Rip it Up
22: 22 - You Are Creating: Limb 1
24: The Mute Gods - …tardigrades will inherit the earth
24: Persefone - Aathma
24: Peter Silberman - Impermanence

March
10: Nova Collective - The Further Side

April
Big Big Train - Grimspound

I think you can have it 1 way or the other. Either list a boatload of things, or then absolutely NOTHING except the CONFIRMED titles and release dates. I don't mind that being the case, its just some stuff will get added either at the last minute or after it comes out (which is still worth something to me anyway).

I suppose instead, I will just keep a separate list of titles for myself and others to watch and then add to when they are confirmed.

Just my 0,02 but why would anyone be bothered with extra information, regardless of whether it is useful to them personally? What's so hard about simply avoiding that information? I just don't get it.

I think it's useful to have a TBA section so that I don't have to keep track of every single band that's about to release an album but hasn't confirmed the date yet. The list helps me remind to check a band's status on the new release.

I suppose instead, I will just keep a separate list of titles for myself and others to watch and then add to when they are confirmed.
Are you sharing it online or is it a private file? I'd like to somehow have access to a speculation/TBA list.

EDIT: Oh yeah, 13th of January: Jupiter Hollow - Odyssey EP https://ashermediarelations.com/2016/10/05/epk-jupiter-hollow-odyssey-ep-2016/

I will be adding a Anticipation/Speculation/TBA list in my blog, likely pretty soon (this week/weekend).

(Latest TBA List on Page 1/Date, etc).

If you re-read my post, I only asked for the speculation to be dropped, not confirmed/no date.  I have no problem with things like Ayreon where even though we don't have a date or title, it's very clear from Facebook that it is happening soon.  That's not speculation, there is credible information from the artist - which is why I suggested people post source information.
