The HAKEN Survivor 2016 - Aquarius: Round 1!

And then it really begins!



Starting off this Survivor with the band's very powerful and distinctive debut album, Aquarius. I shall always remember this album as the album that came at exactly the right time in my life. Seeing the band play their first ever gig outside the UK and watching them blow up since them has been highly interesting. I'm probably in the minority here, when I state that Aquarius is my favourite Haken album, but it is. There's not a bad song on this record and although some of it might sound amateurish or highly pretentious, there's no doubt to me that this album has a sound that distinguished the band from other contemporary progressive metal bands, and a sound I would like them to return to some time in the future.

Probably my favorite Haken album too. This or Affinity, I can't really decide since they're both amazing.

Actually just relistened and Drowning in the Flood is less great than I remember it being when I last heard it. I kinda think Eternal Rain is my least favorite and DitF comes after it, cause contrarily I think Sun is better than I remember it being.

Dronwing in the Flood has some good parts, but I can't stand the chorus tbh.

I hate how Eternal Rain always gets killed first. It's definitely better than at least The Point of No Return (not that it matters, but I didn't vote because I missed the close of the poll by 20 minutes).
