"Bridges in the Sky" Appreciation Thread
« on: October 16, 2016, 09:05:52 AM »
Not sure if this thread has already been done, but after a few listenings to Bridges In the Sky off of ADToE I've fallen in love with the song. I love when they played it as the opening track on Luna Park. Anyone else with me in saying this is an amazing track?
This feeling inside me
Finally found my love, I've finally broke free
No longer torn in two
I'd take my own life before losing you

There's a thread already but yeah it's awesome. The 11 minutes go by like 4.

Yeah it's up there.  I really like This is The Life too.

My favourite Mangini album so far.

Great song indeed, in a great album overall.
Agreed about Mangini even though DT12 has some incredible moments. I just hope that they keep improving his sound (especially in the cymbal department) because much of Mike's dynamics are lost due to the production. Seeing him playing live shows how intricate parts are being buried under the guitar and the massive compression.

Wonderful song, one of the best of Mangini's era and probably my favorite of the album!

They should have however followed the original plan and call this The Shaman's Trance. Aside from being a badass title, when in the chorus we arrive to "crossing bridges in the sky" and the original album title would have been mentioned, at the climax of the song, it would have been an awesome moment. More powerful than the previous mentions of album titles in lyrics.
I use my sig to pimp some bands from Italy! Check out Elvenking (Power / Folk metal), Folkstone (Rock / Medieval metal), Arcana Opera (Gothic/Noir/Heavy metal) and the beautiful voice of Elisa!

I love this song. My only "complaint" would be that JLB's highest note occurs in the middle of the song (the take my hand part) and not at the ending. I think it would have sounded better if it those got switched. Not sure if anybody feels this way or has an idea of why was it done like this (besides DT wanted it like that  ;))

Other than that, it's a kick ass song. Loved it when they played it as an opener during the ADTOE tour.

This is their best "heavy" song since Awake.  Love it.

My favourite song on that album too! I just wish ADToE have the same overall production quality of The Astonishing... It would be an incredible way to "restart" the band at that time!

I love this song, breaking and this one really relieved me through the drummer change process :)
I saw them with this song as an opener, playing after periphery, I just felt like power was three times higher, thought there is only one guitar hahaha

^ Well openers never get the best sound. Headliners always sound better.

Love this song so much, especially the meaning behind it.

At first I felt the same way about the high note but I kind of like how it winds down the song a little bit.

This is still my favorite DT album and Bridges is an amazing way to start a concert.  It sets a great mood, it builds, gets in your face with the band, and caps it off with James coming out a minute or two later.  Plus, on youtube during that song on the tour you can see me give James a high five (well, low five for him).  Best show of theirs I've ever been to.

One of my favorite's in this album with to Breaking All Illusions, Beneath the Surface, and This Is the Life. It took me a while to get used to that shaman voice, but the chorus is amazing and the instrumental section too is awesome.

This main riff and drums are so exciting !
I don't know how it could be theorically called, but it's like a train's engine roaring, a powerful forward feeling
