American Horror Story - Roanoke
« on: September 16, 2016, 06:06:45 AM »
It's that time of year again. FX drops another American Horror Story in our laps. I know many of you have hated the direction this series went. I myself haven't finished either of the last two seasons due to boredom and lack of a compelling story. However, the first episode of this new season was absolutely horrifying. I was on the verge of a panic attack half the time, and spent a good portion of the episode watching through one eye like a little bitch. Dark as hell, creepy, awesome setting and music, just all around uncomfortable (in a good way). They changed up the format and it worked really well.

There was nothing in this first episode that looked like it was there for shock and awe purposes only. Unlike the last season where they seemed to spend at least 5 minutes each episode just pushing the boundaries and seeing what they could get away with on cable (Lady Gaga bloody sex scene).

If you've fallen off this train because you think the show has lost it's direction since season 1 and 2, I highly, highly recommend giving this first episode a chance.

I am planning to give this season a shot....I've recorded this first episode but haven't had the chance to watch it yet. Glad to hear it's promising.

I like and sometimes love AHS, will catch up when the full season will be avalaible, it's still somehow summer and I need to watch these kind of shows in the cold and bleak winter  :xbones
I use my sig to pimp some bands from Italy! Check out Elvenking (Power / Folk metal), Folkstone (Rock / Medieval metal), Arcana Opera (Gothic/Noir/Heavy metal) and the beautiful voice of Elisa!

Watched the first episode. It was alright. I find the format interesting but honestly the content of the story is a bit 'blah' IMO. Nothing original about the stories (Pig Man, Blair Witch style festooned woods and home)

I'll watch the next episode to see where it goes but at the moment I'm 50/50 on whether or not I stay tuned in all season.

Hate it so far, but can appreciate why some like this return to season 1 form.

Just caught up on the show with on demand. I like the format change and I look forward to seeing the rest of the season. The first episode I was like "Hey OJ and Marcia Clark got together!"

Ok I'm not sure how I feel about the last 2 episodes... I found the reactions of the characters totally unrealistic.

I haven't seen the most recent. Last episode I saw was when they all when back to the house and Evan Peters character got taken down. I hope they can convince me why the original survivors ever decided to go back.

I binge watched the entire first season today.

I am glad I watched it and was entertained, but it was pretty off the rails most of the time. Character Motivations didn't seem clear at times and appeared to flip flop between evil and good. I never really knew who wanted what and why.

And it got real contrived at times like Constance has a womanizing husband that she kills and then she has a monster child who she chains up in the attic and then she has a school shooter son. Its like the script needs plot point B so there fore this character who is already overloaded shall also have this other major plot point.

But oh well, it was a fun ride.

I watched two episodes. That was enough for me to determine to take it out of my viewing schedule. I watch entirely too much television so I have to try and weed out the shows that aren't "doing" it for me. Nothing in those two episodes captivated me enough to want to make me want to keep watching.

Just watched the final episode, I really liked it except the last few minutes. I'll hold off discussion to avoid spoilers

:lol I was going to say... That'd be a really terrible way to wrap this season up. I'm still digging it so far. Last episode was really good.
