Train has me on his Spotify feed and I just listened to it, so nothing "probably" about it

Someone guess the last songs already  I think this round is going to have the highest average score and perhaps even the best scoring song so far. (Hint: the best song this round was sent for a bonus point)

Dammit.

Oh well, I should still be through to the next phase, I guess. :D

Since I have no idea about the other songs, give me an E.

So it's Elite, Tomislav, Evermind or Tyrias

I'm also waiting for more letters, I wouldn't even have been able to guess that Ghost Brigade thing without Luoto playing that exact song on Spotify when I guessed it, like he said

If it's Tomislav or Tyrias I probably won't make the cut :/ I had some songs in mind that were eligible for a bonus point, but I truly anticipate this song to be a full point better than those standalone.

Then it's probably better that you sent the song you sent  :tup

Tomislav - Elliot Smith

I think it's not possible I sent same band as someone else since I didn't send band at all :P singer-songwriter stuff
Wow which one could possible be tomislav's song :neverusethis:

Between the Jars? Between the Mars? Between the Lars?

So Portishead has to be Scorpion then, I thought it was already glaringly obvious that Jesus Christ was sent by Parama :lol

I'm pretty sure my song isn't the best one, because it's shorter than two minutes and it's just a guitar and Mark's voice.
This first band is Soen very cool swingy jazz fusion kinda stuff.

Results are here!  ;D

Elite: Ben Folds Five – One Angry Dwarf And 200 Solemn Faces   7.25+1

I like the piano at the start of the song, even though I’m usually not a big fan of this kind of really happy piano but it does make smile. It also works great in this song. The pianist has quite a unique style I think, almost a but percussive. I expected something really pretentious based on the title but this song actually really fun. It doesn’t do that much for me though.

Evermind: Mark Knopfler - Heart Of Oak 7.25+1

The acoustic guitar in this is really nice. I really like the feel of this song, some really nice melodies. It’s bit difficult to say more about it as it’s just a very short but pretty song that I guess works better in the context of the album.

Thanks a lot for playing Evermind! Lighthouse is still one of my favourite songs of this roulette and I’ve already listened to the album quite sometimes, it’s very beautiful. I am also really looking forward to checking out Aristidir, thanks!

Sacul: Lord Huron - Ends of the Earth      7.25

I quite like the intro. I really like how the verse goes to the chorus,  it’s a pretty good chorus too. The part after the chorus sounds really joyful. It follows a pretty standard song structure with some nice instrumental additions. Overall it’s a pretty chill song, but not something I’m really looking for I guess.

Luoto: Ghost Brigade: Disembodied Voices 7,5

I really like this kind of intro, I like how they continue building up on the initial atmosphere when the vocals and guitar come in. The transition into a more intense part is pretty good too, I quite dig the harsh vocals here, especially with the guitar providing a melody. I like how they briefly return to a part similar to the intro before ending. Overall this song doesn’t stand out enormously but is just really solid, and I think I will check out this album.

You definitely got the most variation in scores, I think you got an 8,5 twice and have sent both the highest and lowest scoring song of a round. I really like that you sent me a lot of different styles of (harsh) vocals. I am especially looking forward to checking out more from Solstafir. Thanks a lot for playing!

Twosuitsluke: Astronoid – Up and Atom   7.5

This directly starts high energy, nice. I wasn’t too fond of the vocals at first but they grew on me, they works surprisingly well. Not too big fan of the solo, a bit too much shredding and lack of melody for me. The part after it is quite epic. Overall, I think this is instrumentally a very solid song but I do feel that it does lack something to make it stand out.

I want to thank you for sending a huge variation in songs, I’m sorry I couldn’t reward the “risks” with higher scores but I still really appreciate you sending them! Thanks for playing!

Tyrias: Azedia – Something   7,75+1

Love the feeling at the start of the song, it sounds really mysterious. I am not a huge fan of vocals in the “somethings wrong” part, they sound a bit too, idk, electric? And the vocals melodies aren’t too special. I do really love the electronic sounds in this song, they somehow work really great here.. Can’t go wrong with a sample of Terrence McKenna of course, he’s got a very pleasant voice to listen to. Though I don’t agree with everything he says, I really like listening to his lectures sometimes. Overall, beside some of the vocals I really liked this song.

Despite having some really solid scores throughout I’m sorry you didn’t make the cut into the epic round. You did still gave me quite some albums to check out. Thanks a lot for playing Tyrias!

Parama: Brand New – Jesus 8

This starts with some nice but not too special guitar playing. The vocals in this song are really the highlight, especially near the end. It’s really nice how each vocal layer is clearly distinguishable there. My only complaint is that I don’t really like how this song stops and then continuous for another minute, I think I would have liked it a bit better if it didn’t do that. Overall it’s a really nice and touching song but it didn’t hit me like Limousine did.

Scorpion: Portishead – Roads   8

Some interesting electronic sounds at the start. It works great with the simple drums and the singers beautiful voice. The strings are pretty nice throughout. I would say this song is perhaps slightly too repetitive, it stays quite minimalistic throughout and never really breaks out of its atmosphere but it works. I do just love the melancholic ness of this song.

Train of Naught: Brand New – Limousine (MS Rebridge) 9

The atmosphere at the start is so sad and melancholic. It really hits me when the song gets a little heavier. Some really nice use of dynamics. The vocals are really good trough the song, as with the other Brand New song, I really liked how the different vocal layers are really audible I read the story behind the lyrics that’s a terrible thing to happen. It does give the lyrics even more impact. Damn, this song is really intense, it really hits me, thanks man!

Tomislav: Elliott Smith – Between the Bars 9,5+1

This song gave me goosebumps, wow. His voice is really unique, it’s so thin but it sounds almost heavenly. I really like the guitar in this too, it’s got some interesting chords, especially for this kind of music. I have to say it feels kind of weird giving such a simple song such a high score but it’s just such a perfect little song, so honest and touching. This might just be the song that has reached me most so far in the roulette so I feel it really deserves this score, thanks!

Score:

10 Twosuitsluike:         46,5  + 7,5 = 54
9 Luoto:                 48 + 7,5 = 55,5
8 Evermind                  47,25 +8.25 = 55,5
7 Tyrias                  48,75 + 8,75 = 57,5
---------------------------------------------------------
6 Sacul:                    51 +7,25 = 58,25
5 Elite:                      50,25 + 8.25 = 58,5
4 Parama:                  51 + 8 = 59
3 Tomislav95:           49 + 10,5 =59,5
2 Scorpion:               52,25 +8 = 60
1 Train of Naught         51,25 + 9 = 60,25

Everyone below the line can go ahead and send me a song for round 7, remember you can send one song or multiple songs flowing into each other as long as the total length isn’t longer than 20 minutes (again I won’t be too strict, just be reasonable). I will rate this song (or songs) out of 20 points instead of 10.
For the others, as I said already, thanks a lot for playing, I hope you enjoyed the roulette!
