Also, going off on the hints, here are two guesses:

Twosuitsluke sent The Flatliners - The Respirator.
Elite sent CB&HMB - Pena for the short song bonus.

I don't

Also people, step up your game, SikTh haven't made that many covers. :P
Wrathchild was the only one I was familiar with, didn't know they had other covers so I can't really guess it.

Got no idea about those tidbits. :lol

Results!  ;D ;D

Twosuitsluke: The Flatliners - Drown in Blood 6

It starts pretty okay. It starts with a pretty generic(to my ears at least) punkish sound. The chorus is pretty strong though, but not too special again. I like the bridge, the way the vocals are there is pretty good. Thanks a lot for taking a risk, but it just doesn’t do much for me. I do think I would really enjoy this in a live setting though, but listening at home I just don’t have much use for this kind of music, sorry man.

Evermind Sonata Arctica – Caleb (Spoken Word) 7+1

Nice use of a sample at the start of the song, the keyboard thing works pretty well with it. I really like that this song has a few  more moments of breathing space compared to some other power metal songs, they always tire me after a while. Solo feels a little generic but isn’t that long anyway so that’s fine. Not such a big fan of the overall sound (as you probably had guessed) But this song is actually pretty good for a power metal song I think. It’s not something I’ll return too but I didn’t mind listening to it.

Parama: East of the Wall - Ocean of Water 7,25

I love the intro riff and heavier parts, it does meander a bit in-between. The overall sound is pretty enjoyable. i t’s got the same feel throughout the song but still goes quite some places, and stays interesting. I enjoyed listening to this, but I do find it hard to say more about it :p

Tyrias: Florence and the Machine - Seven Devils 7.5

Love the feel throughout the song. The choruses are really great, her voice works perfectly with the instrumentation to create quite a unique atmosphere. I do think the song is perhaps a little too repetitive the piano stays the same for most of the song. Or perhaps it’s just slightly too long… It does feel pretty unique though, and that is something I really like.

Sacul: Rage Against the Machine – Testify 7,5

The verses are pretty okay, not much melody in it but a nice rhythm in the vocals. I do just love that chorus riff, it’s so groovy \m/. Really the kind of the music that makes you want to move you just can’t stay still while listening. Those high sounds in background are a pretty nice addition and despite it not being a very pretty sound it works really well. If all of their songs have these kind of pumping rhythms, I think I would really enjoy them at certain occasions.

Tomislav: The hotelier – Soft Animals 8

The intro is really nice, I get a bit of Coldplay (Parachute album) vibes from it. The chorus is definitely the highlight of this song,  I love the rawness in his voice in the “make me believe” parts, the emotion in it is really nice. It’s a pretty simple composition but still a sound I enjoy very much.

Train of Naught: Avengend Sevenfold – A Little Piece of Heaven 8

Love the use of brass in the into, I do think that the sudden double base drums I perhaps a little too much? I love the part starting at 1:30, it’s got a really nice, kinda creepy feel to it. I really like the female vocals near the end too. The quirkiness of this song is really nice and works strangely well with the pretty dark lyrics (and that crazy music video) It makes the person in the lyrics seem even more insane, especially those mad laughter parts. I think that’s actually what I like most about this song: the music really fits the story of the lyrics just really well.

Elite: Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band – Pena 8 + 1 (Short Song)

I love the crazy talk in the start… “Bulbous also tapered” No idea what it means, I like that they not take it too seriously themselves. The music after it reminds me a little of early Pink Floyd, some of the same improvisational sound, the screaming spoken vocals over it make it sound it really different though. I guess this is exactly the sort of quirky song I was hoping to get for this bonus theme. This quite unlike anything I know. Scoring this song is not that easy though, there is little actual (conventional is a better word I guess?) music in it which makes it a little harder to compare it with the other songs in this round. I did really enjoy listening to this song, but I am not sure if I can listen to a whole album of this.

Scorpion: SikTh - Tupelo (Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds cover) 8,25

Love the feeling in the intro, the distant vocals with that rhythm creates a nice and chilling atmosphere. The singing is really unique, love the different amount of sound the singer gets out of his voice. I listened to the original too, It’s quite amazing how much the singer from SikTh sounds like the original singer. I do like this version a lot better than the original so good choice! I just love how insane this goes, it fits the feeling of the song perfectly.

Luoto: Sólstafir – Miðaftann 8.5

The atmosphere in this is chilling wow, I listened to the songs in this round once while walking outside in the middle of the night with headphones on, and this song was so perfect then. I wasn’t very sober but damn, this song created such a magical feel. It’s a pretty repetitive composition but it works so good. The vocals are pretty great too, I actually quite like that I don’t understand a thing, it adds to the magical atmosphere I think. I really love the layers in the vocals at some parts too. Thanks, this one of the songs in the songs in the roulette that really reached me

Glad you liked it, though I would have been even gladder if you had liked it more.

Anyway, I think I might send for the short song bonus for the next round.

I wonder what I have to do to get more than 8,5 points when the write-up has a line like this. :corn At least I won the round, and the fact you love it is most important.

Miðaftann is on Ótta. Very good album, that.

Sending a dark-ass song by a heavy-ass band right now. Lots of ass, but I promise you it is not Mastodon - The Motherload

Yeah, I love the song but I can't take them seriously with that video, maybe they were trying to mock Nikki Minaj at the time or something but it's just stupid either way.

just wanted to make something that was bizarre—that would confuse people. I also thought to myself, what’s the most bizarre thing, or what’s something people would say completely does not belong in a Mastodon video? And the twerking was sort of what I came up with.
