Mastodon Survivor - Main Thread

Welcome to my first survivor – Mastodon survivor. If I'm not mistaken this is also the first Mastodon survivor on DTF. They are, in my opinion, one of the bands with perfect discography and with pretty diverse albums, so I'm really interested to see the results.

Rules:

• There will be just full-length albums in this survivor, no EPs (I think most people don't know EPs).
• Classic „vote for your least favorite song“ voting style.
• Top two songs from each album advance to the finals and third goes to consolations. First two of those which win in consolations are saved and they join the finals.
• Order: chronological
• I don’t want this to take forever so there will 24h regular album rounds and 48h rounds in consolations and finals, I think that's enough time to collect enough votes (comment if you disagree). Tiebreaker rounds will last 24h. One round at the time.
• If there's tie in tiebreaker, the song with more votes in total (votes it got in all rounds combined) will be eliminated.
• You will able to see votes after you vote.

I'm still not sure about the albums order. I would do it chronological order but I’d like to give you a chance to relisten Remission (I assume members of DTF listen to others more often ). Give me suggestions: chronological, reverse chronological or Leviathan-Once More ‘round the Sun and then Remission order?
In meantime, before all the rules are established, I could run albums survivor (if You want). Also, if you think there's something that could make this survivor better suggest it before survivor starts, as I said, this is the first time I'm running one of those. I hope there will be enough people voting.

I did the "chronological order minus fan-least-favorite debut album" order with the A7X survivor, I wouldn't have a problem starting with Remission but I would have to listen to it first then because that's the one Mastodon album I don't know at all.

24h rounds are fine

I'm really looking forward to revisiting their discog, it's been a while since I've heard them apart from Crack The Skye and Once More Round The Sun

For sure. I mean, I can probably already call the #1 album right now but I don't know about the other albums.

I can include Call of the Mastodon if there are enough people interested but I'm not too sure.

I can't really join in on Remission. I know the album, but not well enough to adequate vote there. I will vote on the rest of the albums. This is certainly going to be interesting, as I have no idea which songs will do well beforehand.

Remission survivor - Final round results:
Where Strides the Behemoth - 5 votes (100%)

March of the Fire Ants is the winner of Remission survivor without any vote against it! Where Strides the Behemoth is 2nd and it get the ticket for the finals as well. Crusher Destroyer will have to compete in consolations for its place in finals. Whole album ranking is in first post.

Leviathan survivor will start soon.

Leviathan Survivor - Final round results:
Blood and Thunder - 4 votes (40%)
Megalodon - 6 votes (60%)

Blood and Thunder is winner of Leviathan survivor! To be honest I didn't expect Megalodon to be 2nd and to lose in final round by only two votes. Both songs are in finals and Iron Tusk will join consolations. Check first post for full album ranking.
Next album is Blood Mountain and it will start in apx. 12 hours from now.

Sleeping Giant - 2 votes (28.6%)
Capillarian Crest - 5 votes (71.4%)

Sleeping Giant is #1 in Blood Mountain survivor, but both songs are in finals.
Crack the Skye survivor starts tomorrow (in 12 hours).

The Last Baron - 7 votes (77.8%)

Two best songs off CtS (IMO) are in finals, third best is in consolations. I like how this turned out.
I had grasp of what song from CtS could enter the finals but honestly, I have no idea about The Hunter. There is a line between songs I think deserve a spot in finals and others but songs in those groups are pretty close, I don't have strong songs ranking established as I had for other albums. Anyhow, The Hunter survivor starts in about 12 hours from now.

Black Tongue - 3 votes (37.5%)
The Hunter - 5 votes (62.5%)

Both Black Tongue and The Hunter are in finals, and All the Heavy Lifting is in consolations.
Next, and last, album is the most recent Mastodon album, Once More 'Round the Sun. In my opinion, it's definitely better than The Hunter and my second favorite of theirs. I have few favorites I'd like to see in finals but who knows how it'll turn out.
Once More 'Round the Sun is continuation of The Hunter style, pretty accessible, with short songs but still heavy.

Chimes at Midnight - 6 votes (54.5%)

It was close but Tread Lightly won against Chimes at Midnight in last round. Good job DTF, my two favorites are in finals
