Started season 5 of Veep last night. I started dozing off somewhere around episode 5 and missed a chunk that I'm going to have to rewatch. Is Jonah running for Congress?!

Oh indeed he is. And it's glorious.
Indeed.

Almost prophetic, in a way.  lol

I dare say the pan out from Jonah answering is phone and... describing his recent diet and the makeup of his subsequent bowel movements is the funniest thing I've seen on TV this year.

Started watching Veep as well, finished season 1.

Funny as hell, but I stand by my vote, Silicon Valley is better. Still I look forward to the future seasons of Veep! I would post my favorite quotes from the first season but I might as well do a copy and paste of the Wikiquote page about the show, so many exchangtes are awesome.
I use my sig to pimp some bands from Italy! Check out Elvenking (Power / Folk metal), Folkstone (Rock / Medieval metal), Arcana Opera (Gothic/Noir/Heavy metal) and the beautiful voice of Elisa!

Some of the producers/writers for the show are speaking where my wife works this week (a software company, of course).  I am so jealous.

I like VEEP more, I'm currently working my way though the show - just finished series 2.   Huge fan of Armando Iannucci I'm alittle worried to see he left the show as a writer at the end of the forth series, for those who have seen it was there a drop in quality on series 5?
In a way VEEP surprised me as I never thought it could get anywhere near the quality of 'The Thick of It' (even with Iannucci onboard), but it's not far away at all - it just lacks a sweary Doctor Who  ;D

Sillicon Valley I only watched 3 episodes.  I didn't mind it but I didn't grab me enough to keep watching.

I wouldn't say there was any noticeable fall off at all for season 5. Still top notch, featuring a Jonah arc for the second half of the season that's as good as anything the show's done.

I'm about 6 episodes into series 3 of VEEP and I'm not enjoying this series as much.  It's still decent but it's started to become more disconnected from reality - I'm not enjoying Jonah's blogging subplot at all (although that does seem for the moment to have come to an end).  The satire seems to be more dumbed down this time around.

I recently went through a rewatch of Veep and I loved it even more than before, picking up all the little nuances I didn't at the first go. The jokes are still hilarious. Both shows are so well written I can't decide which I like more, they are different enough to really not be comparable but both make me laugh.

Great season premier for Silicon Valley season 4 and the first two episodes of Veep season 6 have been fantastic.

I've seen both three seasons of Veep and Silicon Valley. I still prefer Silicon Valley, 'cause it hits closer to home (I was born a programmer, even if I don't work in that field anymore), but Veep is fantastic anyway.

Yea, I think working in tech and at a tech start up lead me to love SV a lot because I can relate to a lot of the industry jokes and similarities.

Also, the continuous references to the data center in Silicon Valley are great since I've been doing that professionally for 10 years now.  They aren't wrong, but it's SO funny.  My coworker was diagnosing the desk in the data center today to see if it looked like ours and it was pretty close  :lol  Also, everyone in tech looks down on the data center (hence the basement, other than figuratively, it also makes physical sense) and the show represents that well while also showing how important servers and speeds are.

Did you account for windspeeds? Better fly each one five more times and take the average to be sure.

:lol Silicon Valley is becoming so good because the cast of characters slowly building up, which are all hilarious in their own ways, are all involved in active storylines that lead them to interact with each other.  The scene a couple weeks ago with the Gavin's head security guy and his zen master guy (no idea what he actually is) going at each other was classic  :lol

Damn it Xian YANG!! I'm going to miss his character in the next season. I think he had some of the funniest lines on the show. The classic, you 'brought shit to a piss fight' and so many others. Not only that his back and forth with Big Head and Xian Yang were hilarious.
