My EP is 31 minutes long at the moment, only 4 artists. Trying to find something without disturbing the flow (jk there's no flow).

The way I see it: I got two powermetal tunes this roulette (one moreso than the other) and neither have disappointed. So yeah, I LOVE powermetal. But for real it has its time and place but I'm most of the time not really a fan of powermetal.

That was only half-serious as it was actually Sacul who sent it, not one of the current competitors.

But yeah I'll accept them now either way.

For our beloved youtube-regulars, I will still accept youtube links for the EP but files/spotify is definitely prefered. There will be lots of moments in the upcoming days where I can only access the internet from my phone and being able to listen to the EP's offline will benefit me massively, so therefore spotify or files pls.

Also I'm probably going to skip a first impression sneakpeek because I lack originality to make these distinguishable enough without straight up giving away which is which it seems. Might do something else as a teaser this time around though.

I'll do the write-ups for the tracks I sent then:

There's lots of weird changes and unexpected twists in this track. The Eastern (European) influences are prevalent and executed remarkably well. Even though there's a lot going on, you can definitely hear the song is thoroughly composed.

The ending to this track is probably the most fucked-up thing I have heard in the entire roulette. It's creepy, but in a good way. This band really knows how to blend seemingly unrelated genres together

This is a pretty damn strong round, and also a bit unbalanced, so I'm still pretty curious what the standings will look like after this.

With three of you, the 2nd songs are superior to the first, regardless of wether you sent them in bulk or as two separate songs, I added them in the order they were sent to me unless specified otherwise. And the other two have peeked with their first song. Got a clue?

I'm not so sure, perhaps Ars Moriendi is relatively easier to get into, but Goodbye Sober Day might be a better track. Of the two I sent, Ars Moriendi is probably my favourite, but Goodbye Sober Day is the ultimate Mr. Bungle mindfuck-song, without getting too crazy (like in Merry Go Bye Bye from their previous album).

By the way, shall I send the EP now?

Theocracy – I Am:

Great intro first of all, this is one of the things I think symphonic/melodic/power metal bands excel at, because they are usually very.. well.. powerful. I very much enjoy the way these lyrics are shaped, it’s catchy, its meaning is very clear yet poetic, and it builds up towards a very strong chorus. At one point I feel the overall sound is all over the place, a bit too much (starting at about 3:50), it’s only like 10 seconds of this 11 minute song though so I won’t be a bitch about it. Loving that long instrumental section in the second half of the song, it’s very prog very powah. All in all, I probably wouldn’t mind if they cut up to a minute off this song but other than that I don’t have much to complain about.
Sadly rarely anyone sends their song as quickly as Parama, so no Thank You Scientist profits for you, but this was a great second option.

9/10

^ I had that song on the EP. It would have scored well apparently. I sent a different track-listing already.

Also, reading back through Train's first roulette, I completely remember now that I lost the lead I had throughout the entire roulette in the last round by sending a song that didn't reflect the theme at all, making me lose my place in the fucking finals by ,5 points. I'm definitely planning to win this time around and the EP I sent you is hopefully going to ensure I do.

Yeah I Am is great, I remember not liking the album as much though. The chorus in this album opener was one of the things that stuck with me most after the first roulette though.

And Lesoir, yeah it wasn't even remotely close to an album opener and you were aware of that but just didn't know the theme or something. But regardless, I didn't like the song at all and didn't really take into account to what degree a song fit certain themes in that roulette, apart from giving a 0.5 bonus to seneca once for his creepy-as-fuck Circle Takes The Square song in the dark round.

I really don't know. First one is folk metal song with a lot of folk. So if you don't like it then 2nd is stronger :D but IMO that Ensiferum tune is killer, even if you don't like folk parts there are great riffs and solos.

Sounds good, looks like I'll have the EP's quicker than I thought. Could end this roulette fairly quickly.

Against all odds, it looks like I'll be done with the roulette before moving to my new home, which was most of the reason I was unsure whether this roulette would work at this time. I will likely have the results for round 9 up by tomorrow, and will give everyone a few more days after that to reconsider their EP's in case they think of something to improve them. Don't have a set deadline yet but it looks like everyone is (about) done already so it won't be too long.
