My brother, who is no longer on Facebook, still likes to help me troll family members on Facebook.
My niece posts one of these “woe is me, my life has been so hard” things that says “Never be ashamed of a scar. It simply means you were stronger than whatever tried to hurt you.”
I commented “Well, no, technically, it means that your integumentary system is working properly to replace some sort of tissue wound with new tissue, albeit of a different fiber composition than the original.”
I emailed this exchange to my brother, who offered: "Additionally, one could argue that if you have a scar then something didn't *try* to hurt you. It *did* in fact hurt you. You just didn't die."
I love dismantling posts like this.
