Well, could be better, but I'll take it.

It's almost scary how Tyrias and me have gotten the EXACT same score in every single round so far :lol
We can do that for the whole roulette if you want to, as long as you send a song 0.5 songs below me for the last round :xbones.

Also, can I send a 34-minute instrumental? :neverusethis:

Whoa, got something other than an 8 and it's even a better score! I call that a resounding success.

Now to find an instrumental for you.
This first band is Soen very cool swingy jazz fusion kinda stuff.

I'm stoked for results on this one but honestly I sent the best song so it's not that exciting.

Is there going to be a length limit for the epic round? I have two awesome songs but they're both well over 30 minutes. I need to know this because I could send these bands in earlier rounds if I already know that they won't be allowed in the epic round.

wow didn't even realise this.

The thing is that it's getting harder for me to sit down and listen to the songs in a row. I'm just buying my time for good results, instead of giving poor judgement in a short time (one listen), although this time I was slowed down because the entries were kind of slow to get here. But yeah, sorry, last time was better.

BTW yeah, tidbits on Tuesday and results on Wednesday. I'm trying to make the best out of it, it's the busiest time in my life probably.

Sounds like Infected Mushroom, with electric proggy guitars.

I don't tend to like post-rock as much as I did with this track.

Given what you said, I think this could work better in the context of the album.

Such a fun track. And relaxing too.. and to think this band toured with much heavier artists. Love it!

Paints a beautiful picture in my head. Like I'm alone on a hammock sleeping on a beach.

Amazing use of acoustic instruments. Really enjoyable.

This sounds straight out of a Bond movie title sequence. I'm not even a fan of 007 but this could really work in it. Amazing stuff all around.

A bit repetitive, but it works in the context of the track. It gets obsessive at one point.

Unexpectedly groovy, but a bit boring song, so far.

This is quite an experience, even though it's only 4 minutes of music.

Interesting, quite heavy for a band like this. This is an album I've always wanted to get into, sounds promising.

Here we go with the results of this instrumental round:

ROUND 5: INSTRUMENTAL - THE RESULTS

Train Of Naught
Lechuga - O Vurdon

I'm not a big fan of latin music as it is, but if more styles of music are incorporated, hell yes.
This confirmes my tastes, as it's pretty great. It starts out completely latin-sounding, and the prog metal blends in progressively. Great and fun track. Sounds like Infected Mushroom, with electric proggy guitars, but as ridicolous that may sound, it still is consistent throughout. The only thing I don't like is the outro: the song ends too abruptly.. but then again, the rest is great.
9/10

Tyrias
Russian Circles - Mlàdek

I don't tend to listen nor to like post-rock, it's too "deep" for me. This song right here, is an exception. Everything is wonderfully slowly built up to the outro, where all hell breaks loose. There's nothing else to say, really. It's pretty badass too.
8/10

Tomislav95
Camel - Rhayader

With the last listen of this I just realised: this incredibly reminds me of Ayreon. Anyways, Camel is a band I see pop up here and there, and I know they are pretty great as far as classic prog goes. I need to check out their album, but this song isn't really the reason. It's good enough, but it would work better in context, maybe. So, thanks for reminding me!
7/10

splent
Thank You Scientist - Suspicious Waveforms

Wow, I mean, wow. I knew this band was based on brass and blues, jazz and progressive, but I didn't know they did it this accurate. Seriously, while listening to this song, I started snapping my fingers. I never do this, and it's sign of incredibly believable songwriting. This band tours with Haken, toured with Periphery and Coheed & Cambria.. and that's really mindblowing. I was willing to check them out already, but this sold me. The song is funky, jazz, blues and prog.. and it's all fused so well together, that it instantly reminded me of Weather Report. It has the same kind of vibe, which is incredibly fun to listen to.
9/10

Scorpion
Buckethead - Hills Of Eternity

Scorpion sent me this ballad from the man with many albums (264. I'm serious).
This unites both a sappy atmosphere and a catchy melody that relaxes me a lot. It really aints a beautiful picture in my head, like I'm alone on a hammock sleeping at the beach. I totally expected other stuff from both you and Buckethead, but this was great enough.
8.5/10

twosuitsluke
Baroness - Stretchmaker

Similarly to Buckethead, this is another ballad.. it has the same vibe, but it sounds very different at the same time. What I like this time is the feel of summer, and given that it's finally started, man, this fits my mindset right now, even though I'm friggin' busy. I'm relaxed at the same time. And this song describes that. Amazing use of acoustic instruments too, you can almost feel the fingers on the frets. I really like this track.
8.5/10

Stadler
King Crimson - Red

After many difficulties, finally this song was sent  :lol
When I pressed play, I was literally blown away, as I didn't expect such heaviness from King Crimson. Makes sense, this is one of Kurt Cobain's favorite albums, and another one of the 'to listen to' list. This song does a good job as an opener, the riffs are cool and strange, just like the band. The only thing is, it's pretty streched out in my opinion, and repetitive. But not bad at all.
7/10

Parama
Rosetta - Absent

When you said 'Enjoy the violence', I thought I was getting a regular metal piece, maybe with blast beat and stuff. Nope. You are just too good to be so predictable. Absent is a.. voyage through the human will for violence. A twisted 9-minute song that with one single riff, creates such pathos.. Yeah, it's pretty repetitive, but that's the point there. It makes sense. The song gets really obsessive near the end, and you're there, with your hands in your hair... It's creepy. Really creepy, what this song does. Still, it's not as much as Clara did in the last roulette, but it's really eerie. Thank you for playing with my soul!
8.5/10

Elite
Have A Nice Life - There Is No Food

I really have no clue about what to say about this one. It's just.. a tremendous experience of music in just 4 minutes. There's this simple keyboard line that repeats on a loop, with an telephone-like sound. Then the low note hits. It's like a punch in the stomach, it's like diving in the ocean. It's beautiful, you can even hear fainted, stuffy voices.. This song is how you do ambient. With short songs that leave trace.
9/10

Sacul
Ulver - Glammer Hammer

This is a track from a band that is beloved on this forum. And given this song, I'm not that attracted to Ulver, really. This is from their newest album with an unpronounceable name, and it's just a groovy keyboard track with a beat. Nothing much really.. It didn't hit me as opposed to some of the other amazing stuff of this round. Maybe try again with something else next time!
6/10

Evermind
Jon Lord - Sarabande

Having recently rediscovered my love for Deep Purple (Ian Paice played in my town with my school academy's teachers.. it was a mindblowing experience), I got pretty excited when you sent this. It's a masterful piece of music, with an orchestra, a jazz vibe and it could sound really good in a movie, I'm thinking 007 or something like it. Your story about Jon Lord was very moving and I cannot imagine the heartbreak, so this made it all more special. It's an amazing track, sounds historical, it sounds grand and so, so fun and groovy. Even the drumming is great! Great entry all around.
9.5/10

---THE CHART---

Evermind 42,5
Train Of Naught 42
Parama 41,5
Tyrias 41
Scorpion 40,5
twosuitsluke 38
Sacul 37,5
Splent 37,5
Tomislav 36
Stadler 35, 5
Elite 35,5

Finally a tiebreaker round, only two ties in the chart right now.

So, finally we're at the middle point of the roulettes. 5 rounds were played, 5 now  await us, not counting the last one. Buckle up, after round 8, 6 people will get eliminated!

I know I've been a slowpoke, as always, really, let's see how I do with the latter part of the roulette. Next round is an open round, once again. Send!

Okay I had no idea mine could've been the Infected Mushroom tidbit :lol I don't hear it, but then again I only know a handful of IM songs.

Glad you liked it, I can understand the complaint about the ending. It's might just be my favorite instrumental ever so I'm glad not to have it bashed into the ground lol

Who woulda thought that the pessimistic Russian would be in the leads! It's at this point that I'm going to send some more random good stuff instead of basing stuff of your tastes and bands you like.

I'll send soon but I may have to think about it a bit, I find open rounds way harder than themed ones because there's so much to choose from.

Glad you liked it so much. Now I'm going to screw up the next three rounds and get eliminated. :lol
