Love the sheer energy that this song brings to me.

Still haven't got into this one as much as the others.

Nice and catchy. Not what I'd expected from this band.

Good melody, but a bit redundant at the end of the day.

There are some good ideas here, it's taking a while, but I'm growing into it.

Yeah.

TIDBITS

Love the sheer energy that this song brings to me.

Nice and catchy. Not what I'd expected from this band.

I really like the vocals in this one, they make the song, if you ask me.

I think these are the only ones that could be mine. I highly suspect that the one about the vocals is most likely to be mine.

Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Finally. Finally guys, some free time to write down these freaking results after nearly two weeks of wait. I'm incredibly sorry. This should be fine from now on. With that said, it's time for....

ROUND 2: OPEN ROUND I
THE RESULTS

This was overall an okay round. I liked the songs enough, but not even nearly as much as round 1. Let's see here:

Tyrias
Patrick Watson - Lighthouse

This is a very sweet ballad. I love the very subtle strumentation and low dynamics. I also enjoy the vocals, and the amazing reverb effect they have. It really wouldn't be the same without it. This song makes me picture a calm voyage through space and an enjoyable day of rain at the same time. It's very evocative. Then towards the end it explodes in a kind of march, and it's a nice pay off, of course, although I much prefer the first part of the song. When it comes to ballads, this is the style I like the most.
8/10

Train of Naught
Soilwork - The Ride Majestic

This song reminds me of a bunch of bands, namely Avenged Sevenfold and Trivium. You're lucky I'm not one of those guys who despises metalcore to the bone, but rather enjoy it, especially because it's very fun to listen to, even though it's not that original. And that's what I do with this song. I have a lot of fun. The chorus especially, is very catchy and just makes me want to headbang along, which means that the song works. Good stuff.
8/10

Tomsilav95
Vektor - Tetrastructural Minds

As you all guessed, yes, Vektor was sent in this round. And what can I say? It's a complete chaos of melodic guitars, screeching vocals and Tom Araya-esque high pitched screams. I mean, it's surely fun and amusing to listen to, but it doesn't have a lot of consistency, to me at least. But yeah, it's a blast nontheless, so it's not too bad.
7.5/10

splent
Yes - Machine Messiah

Yes are a dangerous entry for me. They are incredibly hit or miss for me. Either they write some of the most fun and eclectic songs, or they bore me. This.. was not one of the fun songs. I don't know what it is, but no matter how many times I try to listen to it, the song fails to grasp my attention. I guess it's bad luck.
5/10

twosuitsluke
The Dear Hunter - Waves

I constantly see TDH mentioned everywhere on Facebook and the internet in general, so when I saw you sent them I got pretty excited. I can't say I expected this, though. This reminds me a bit of Imagine Dragons, but really, overall, it's basically a mainstream pop rock song, and I thought this band was progressive rock  :justjen
Well. Well. This is a great song, though. I really like the vocal lines and the passion in them. The catchiness is there and I enjoy the lyrics too. I wish that the instrumentation was a bit more prominent, but the song is great enough with what it has.
8/10

Scorpion
Ihsahn - Celestial Violence

Damn. First of all, I know Ihsahn is pretty much a legend both for having taken part of Emperor and for basically creating Leprous. I never tried to get into him, I absolutely have no idea why, because this stuff is amazing. It's an incredibly intimate song, with vocals that remind me of Opeth. The chorus, though, is when all hell lets loose. These vocals, man.. they really hit me. Both the harsh and clean. This is an incredible song, with a great emotional impact. Impressed from the first listen.
8.5/10

Sacul
Kyuss - Odyssey

Hit. Recently I got into a little band called Royal Blood, which consists of a bassist and a drummer. The bass is incredibly fuzzy, so fuzzy it sounds almost like a guitar. I enjoy that sound. Of course, I'd enjoy this.
It's a badass song! The riffs are pounding, as the drums are - there's an incredible level of energy throughout this song, (even though not as much as I Hold Dominion last round :P) and you can feel the electricity, when you listen to it. Amazing!
8.5/10

Stadler
Marillion - White Russian

This nice groovy piece of music is next. I quite like this song, the vocals especially. There's a sheer aggression to them, I don't know what it is that make them so powerful. UZI'S ON A STREET CORNER is a great repeated line, and the 'where do we go from here' is equally as good. The rest of the track is okay I guess, but if you ask me, the vocals make this one.
7.5/10

Parama
Sòlstafir - Fjara
I would be okay with this song if it would've been less repetitive. I mean, it's the same melody over and over again. And while there are cases when that type of songwriting works (see Swans), this is not one of them. Yes, it's a pretty emotional track, and I love icelandic(?) lyrics but it's the repetitivity that ruins it for me.
6.5/10

Elite
Pain Of Salvation - Iter Impius

Resending an artist isn't shaping up to be good strategy.
I like this song less than I did last time with Used. I think that the vocals don't really do it for me. I like Daniel's voice well enough, but when used in the right context. He has this very expressive voice, but at times it seems kind of exaggerately emotional, as in this track. Since the vocals are basically in forefront throughout the piece, this has got me very small interest.. seems to be that PoS is not for me.
5.5/10

Evermind
Anciients - Raise The Sun

This is a really nice song. It took me a while to appreciate it, but it delivered. I guess that's because it resemples Opeth a lot, regarding structure, style and vocals too a bit. It could be a bit more original in that sense, but I think it delivers.
8/10

Stadler (16.5)
Train Of Naught (16.5)

Personally, my favourite thing about this song is the epic ending, starting from "racing the clouds home", and then there's that fantastic melody with "we place our faith in human rights". Uzi's on a street corner is probably my least favourite line from the whole album. :lol

Oh well, at least Raise the Sun worked. I'll just keep sending random stuff then.
