How The Edge - largely a Gibson player - gets a slot and David Gilmour - one of the five greatest guitar players of all time of any manufacturer - doesn't, is baffling.
In any event, Blackmore is my favorite musician of all time, so he gets the nod, but I will say this: I saw SRV on a cold, rainy day in May at the University of Connecticut playing to about 500 people on a flatbed truck parked in the corner of a shitty football stadium and yet he played like it was center stage at the Royal Albert Hall. I have seen hundreds of concerts, and seen all the greats that have toured into the 80's and 90's (so obviously not Hendrix) and I have NEVER seen someone "own" their instrument like him. It was like a part of his body, I can't describe it and do it justice.
