So here is our first Iron Maiden survivor spinoff, which will be the album survivor. The process is just like the song survivors; we'll eliminate albums one by one by voting them out. The results of this survivor will have no bearing on the results of the main survivor.

____________

I imagine that the majority of voters will be gunning for the 90s albums first. But I think there's a split opinion among Maiden fans about whether the early 90s Bruce albums or the late 90s Blaze albums are weaker. Personally, I think The X Factor is extraordinarily underrated and is actually a top 5 Iron Maiden album. I don't think as highly of Virtual XI, but I also don't find it bad by any stretch—I think it's the second-strongest 90s album. There's only one Iron Maiden album that I don't think of as a particularly good album, and it's their 1992 effort. I think it has two very good songs in the title track and Afraid to Shoot Strangers, and several other good ones like Be Quick or Be Dead, Wasting Love and sleeper tune Judas Be My Guide. But it also has Maiden's three worst songs IMO: Chains of Misery, The Apparition and Weekend Warrior, and several others that aren't particularly great. So my vote goes to

Fear of the Dark
And if spirit's a sign,
Then it's only a matter of time

Cool, this is gonna be really hard near the top 5-10, for me it's gotta be Virtual XI though
people on this board are actual music fans who developed taste in music and not casual listeners who are following current fashion trends and listening to only current commercial hits.

Yeah, this is nice. I'll be running it the League for Kamelot albums though, like I did for Nightwish.

I think I'm going with Virtual XI too, but I considered a few other albums before I decided on that.

This first band is Soen very cool swingy jazz fusion kinda stuff.

Joining on the Virtual XI bandwagon, even though it's not THAT bad.

Many consider it Maiden's worst album, and still it has an absolute gem of a song, The Clansman. Tell me another band whose universally panned album has a complete masterpiece on it. When other bands suck, they suck hard, Maiden still remain decent.
I use my sig to pimp some bands from Italy! Check out Elvenking (Power / Folk metal), Folkstone (Rock / Medieval metal), Arcana Opera (Gothic/Noir/Heavy metal) and the beautiful voice of Elisa!

If you took Angel and the Gambler off V11 I'd probably actually say it's a decent album.  That song is such a turn off for me that it really ruins the album.  The Clansman may not even be the best song on that album, I love The Educated Food.

Damn, VXI is getting killed.

I like all eight songs on that album. Including The Angel and the Gambler, which could have used a good editor, but which is certainly a good song at its core.

Same here.

It's catchy and live it worked with all the ups and downs; what kills it is the overly long repetition, the core of the song is good. And those little hits of keyboards at the beginning are so catchy and retro!

The keyboards are terrible to my ears!!! lol I don't think there is a single song from a band I like that pisses me off more than that song. I have a real strong dislike for it.

I expected VXI to go first. I think it's very underrated and a solid album, but even when I rank the albums, it ends up close to the very bottom of the list. However, I gotta say The Angel and the gambler isn't the worst song on it - far from being great, but it's still got a nice groove and a lighter vibe. I've personally never got tired of it.

Agreed, I'd imagine ToT is going to be upset in the near future when it goes out.

Fear of the Dark has Afraid to Shoot Strangers and Judas Be My Guide, which are great songs, the rest ranges from OK (title track, though the live version is much better) to downright terrible (Weekend Warrior). Easily Maiden's worst album.
