I'm going to spend a useless vote to The Valley until the end (the alternative is The Cloak, another useless vote I think..)
I never got the reason why those tracks should be the symbols of the new style of Leprous, they are both ranked below half songs of their discography for me.
The Cloak isn't better than Mb.Indifferentia, Acquired Taste, Salt and Lower in my opinion (all the other recent ballads).
I read that The Valley has got an awesome chorus but the ones of Foe, Coal, The Cloak, Salt, Echo and Bury are all more interesting to me without many doubts, and I like even less the synchopated version of it right before the end. The songwriting is not at the level of Tall Poppy Syndrome days, I don't like much how the song is composed; by the way, The Valley was completely modified 2 days before the final recording merging two different songs in the final version we know, while the songs of Tall Poppy were slowly modified in the period of 2 years, and I think that the difference in songwriting quality between the two albums is clear (Bilateral was perfect in that too).
Maybe I don't like much those songs because from the reviews I read before listening the album I had ultra-high expectations, but after so many years I don't think it's the reason.
End of controversial opinions
