i've checked them out before but never found their music enjoyable enough to warrant a purchase, is the new one any good?

as far as stuff i've been relistening to, i'm finding both oddland albums to be pretty enjoyable, will definitely be getting one but leaning towards the first one, actually, felt a bit more dynamic and organic overall though tbh i'll probably end up with both eventually. a style of prog metal i am really enjoying, evidently
also relistening to that kaddisfly album and being like "this is basically just a better el cielo" and that kind makes me want to pick it up. i dig the album. it's a good album even if it's too long

in other non-roulette news, Der Weg einer Freiheit - Finisterre is a rad as hell black metal album that i am super enthusiastic about
and the previous exist album before their newest might actually be better, relistening and damn it just feels... more mature and diverse, ironically

This is actually the first Adimiron album I've checked out. I have a few others lined up in a playlist I've not gotten to yet. So it feels a little short but it has that early Opeth approach to progressive metal with death growls. I wasn't 100% focused on it but I definitely want to relisten. It left a pretty good impression. I'll go for round 2 after listening to the new Ne Obliviscaris  :metal

So after a second listen I'm really digging the new Adimiron album. They nail the contrast between harsh vocals and clean that I really love, much like Opeth. They also have lots of great melodic guitar work on this record. Some of it is kinda prog metal by numbers but I really like it.

New Ne Obliviscaris was pretty good too. I wouldn't call myself a huge fan but it was good  :metal

there are parts of this i do like but it's either monotonous (the stuff i do like) or boring (parts 3 and 4, which i did not like). actually part 4 would be cool without the vocal thing like i said in my writeup. but yeah. i could see myself getting into something -like- this but not exactly this album itself
I personally find this one quite dreamy - sure probably a bit monotonous for a focused listen, but when it's on the background while I'm doing something mentally undemanding, it's magnificent. Took quite some time to grow on me and I love it now.

Alter Bridge - AB III, 6 years after the last time I've listened to it.

My god Parama, I cannot believe that you listened to that amount of albums coming from your roulette songs.
I listened to the 2 best of roulette CDs and the metal one has some interesting songs I don't know.
I also found the Disillusion song, I'm glad you also liked the album.
I think you'll like Silent Machine by Twelve Foot Ninja as much as Outlier and Polar Similar by Norma Jean as much as Wrongdoers, if you want to do it in the future.

Love the Bob Catley Big H. That and Legends are excellent. LT speaks for itself but I prefer the more structured tracks to the jams.

As amazing as Long Season is, I would say the best Fishmans release by far for me is their live album 98.12.28 Otokotachi no Wakare, one of the best live albums ever IMO. It's emotional, nice range of different type of songs, and it ends with Long Season in its entirety - which manages to top the studio album. Throw in other brilliant tracks like "In the Air" and it's just really good. I managed to hunt it down on CD last year and while it cost me a whooping 85 bucks, I consider it one of my most special albums that I've bought. :)

Yeah I'm not that familiar with all tracks played in that one, but still an amazing live album. Personally, my fav Fishmans is actually their last album, Uchu Nippon Segataya. That wonderful atmosphere coupled with some cool electronics and strings and lovely melodies just appeals to me a lot.

Auric - Empty Seas

Anyone who likes sludge should check'em out.
I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

gave this a spin, felt way better than any of the stuff i'd heard from them previously, was actually pretty dang solid. more melodic and dynamic than what i recall of them. may check it out further.

also lisened to both the last two hypno5e albums again, i do wanna get one of them i think but can't really decide on which. acid mist tomorrow feels like it has higher highs (a lot of the last two movements and some parts of song of the eye) but weaker metal overall while shores is more consistent but never really reaches any major peaks, just a solid baseline of quality. dunno. i need to decide soon though, i meant to order like, by the time the new NeO album came out... almost two weeks ago...

At first I found the narration a bit jarring and distracting but the more I listen to the album, the more it has grown on me. Not one of my favorite Gizz albums, but I would say it's sitting comfortably in the middle somewhere. A lot of great ideas musically and the narration makes the album unique.

Working through some more 2017 albums. This seems really good. I thought it'd be way more death metal but I'm loving it. Will check out pt.2 later  :corn
