the dear hunter: i definitely prefer this to act iv, it's more rock oriented and also more consistent. like, i enjoy every song from evicted to black sandy beaches for one & the front half of the album has a number of tracks i like too. and red hands is maybe the band's best song, i can't see anything from the albums i haven't bought topping that tbh. it's a shame that the closer is maybe the weakest track on the album though lol. both act ii and act iv end really anticlimactically, dunno why casey sucks at endings
oranssi pazuzu: this is a bit slower-paced than their other albums but honestly i am all for that? i prefer the mysterious spacey atmospheres they create over the more intense metal moments, though there are a few of those here. the ambient track at the end is maybe a bit meh but it's still fitting as a finale. and andromeda in particular is pretty great. but honestly i am enjoying this a lot, it's not an album that really jumps out at you (none of this band's albums are, really) but it's wholly enjoyable nonetheless
persefone: i dunno man, this is... "nice" but i just don't find myself getting much out of it. it feels really samey and kind of generic too. like take out the vocals and this would have nothing to do with death metal at all, it's just an okay prog metal album. the pretty moments are nice and they have the occasional moment of building up a nice atmosphere but i am just beyond uninterested in the technical wank bits of this album and a lot of the riffs feel really samey and kinda djenty too. i dunno. i wish i liked this more than i do, i guess

Oops been at gf's place last week so had to make up for the music I wouldn't have the time to listen to.

Land Animal: Yeah not as good as Shiny Eyed Babies but definitely more interesting than Say So.

Themes from William Blake's...: Dunno why never jammed this album but it's really good. Ulver gone industral metal and avant-garde stuff.

Amnesiac: Catching up with the Radiohead discography and yeah this is great, very electronic and experimental, and doesn't really fit Kid A but has many great tunes.

Ascension: Not the most original group of songs by Saltillo, but it's pretty solid. Hyped for the new album.

Uroboros: Yeah this is some sick japanese metal, @Trainy check this out.

Carrie & Lowell Live: Holy crap, original songs were already awesome, but this performance is really something else. The climax of 4th of July gives me chills. Sufjan fans, check this ASAP.

The Colour of Spring: Really beautiful catchy album by a band who'd later go full experimental and abstract. Love how it avoids many of 80s pop cliches and has a brilliant production. Fans of No-Man will appreciate this, Steven and Tim are big fans of the band and the influence is noticeable.

Daisy: Doesn't have the same motional impact as their previous album but some of the songwriting is really strong and feels a bit more mature. Will definitely revisit.

IEM Have Come for your Children: This is weird af, but great I guess?

That's the point :P First row is new albums this week, second row is revisiting new albums from last week, third row is revisiting records from three weeks before, because I like leaving a week without listening an album before giving it a third one.

I'm on a huge kick with the new Next To None album, "Phases". This is a much more aggressive album, and there is a much darker vocal approach.

The other album I am still Loving is "Medusa" by Uncured...killer musicality, and a rythmn section that locks everything down.

Bruh I got Vinushka about a year ago, I checked it out a long while ago. I've heard more interesting stuff from other Dir En Grey albums, this one is fairly tame in comparison, though I haven't checked out any of the other albums front to back. But Vinushka is still fucking amazing.

God Hates Us All sounds pretty damn fine but man that album cover is just so boring, considering this is the same band that put out the album cover of Reign In Blood is pretty disappointing to say the least. :lol

I'm not really loving this either despite really liking their previous two albums. A lot of songs on this seem to lack memorable moments at first few listens.

Damn I haven't heard Addicted in ages. A stellar album indeed.

Didn't expect much, but this was pretty amazing. Definitely need to gives this more spins. I love this kind of atmospheric/ambient post-rock.

I don't know, I have some issues with that one... I listened to that one many times and still, only few memorable moments for me. I don't say it's a bad album, when You're listening it, it's good. But, when it's over - almost nothing stay in my mind. Maybe it just doesn't click yet  ;)
