Well forgot to post this earlier since I actually finished with the albums on Thursday because I went to visit my gf over Friday and the weekend.

The Mantle
: Dunno, on the one hand it's pretty nice when it's not black metal, the post-rock and folk here are great. On the other hand, there's the black metal :lol I guess I'll just give it more listens and see what happens.

Selected Ambient Works 85-92: Finally getting into some classic electronic albums. And this ain't bad for the most part I guess. Really visionary stuff despite some sounds feeling quite dated these days.

Uroboros: Probably a bit too heavy for my taste but damn this is some tight, experimental metal from Japan. The vocals are demented and songs change of style and mood pretty quick so it doesn't get too grating.

Coal: Well finally giving them a proper chance. I guess I like this more than Bilateral, but still am not into this band for some reason, despite them being up my alley in theory.

Aenima: Also giving Tool a last, proper chance. I thinki I like this one more than Lateralus. which isn't saying much I think :lol

Spirit of Eden: Second and third song are amazing, and the rest are nice. Definitely better than Laughing Stock imo. Also that John Cope bonus track is excellent. I think I'll check The Colour of Spring and the Mark Hollis albums eventually.

I'm really not into atmospheric black metal (or any black metal) so I doubt it will grow more on me but I'll give it a fair try I guess. Maybe it'll get me into that stuff. Or not :P

Honestly the metal on The Mantle really isn't that great?
Or at least the very metally tracks have always been among the weakest on the album for me

Aenima IS better than Lateralus. And not by a little.
From the ocean comes the notion that the realise lies in rhythm. The rhythm of vision is dancer, and when you dance you´re always on the one. From the looking comes to see, wondrous realise real eyes....

Iced Earth - Incorruptible

I can't stop listening to this album.  It's also getting me to go back and listen to a lot of their other albums after months upon months of not listening to the band at all.

Aenima IS better than Lateralus. And not by a little.

I find Aenima incredibly boring apart from a few songs. Both Lateralus and 10000 Days blow it out of the water for me.

This is a great album!

Bought it. Hated it.
Haven't listened to it since it came out though, and my opinion of things from that time have changed somewhat since then

Aenima is too much of an angry album for me to like much and half of 10,000 days is reeeeeally boring
Lateralus is the only album where they really got it right imo

Loved it. Sorry for that 7/10  but I still don't like his falsetto on Shiver as much as on some others yet Shiver may be my favorite with Trouble.

Big pop mood lately:  Boston, Cheap Trick, Night Ranger...  I hit up "A Different Kind of Truth" last week for the first time in a long time and it was even better than I remember (and it was my album of the year, barely ahead of Flying Colors).

Though I've been working through the Neal Morse catalogue; I started with One - then ?, Sola Scriptura, Lifeline (Special Edition), Momentum, and I just listened to "The Grand Experiment" last night.   HOLY CRAP.  Every record is amazing, and every one is just that much better than the one before.  TGE is a little different (thus, I guess, the "Neal Morse Band" designation) but it is unbelievable.    My wife makes fun of me (she's making fun of the prog, but she calls it my "Jesus music") but even she was like "that song (it was 'Agenda') was really good."

I agree, which is why I put off listening to them for a long time :lol Which is even more silly than the name, because they're damn good

Slowdive:
This is starting to grow on me a lot. I found it kind of boring on my first listen as some of the music isn't that interesting but I'm appreciating the sounds more and more and I'm actually starting to love this quite a bit.

Melodrama:
I do like this, but it does feel a bit less unique as Pure Heroine. I'm not loving the more poppy/mainstream focus is on some tracks eventhough they're still very much Lorde's take on such tracks. I'll wonder how I'll feel about it after more listens...

Loved it. Sorry for that 7/10  but I still don't like his falsetto on Shiver as much as on some others yet Shiver may be my favorite with Trouble.
That's okay man, I'm happy you checked the album out anyway (and loved it  ;D)
