Last week, I'll just comment on the highlights and the disappointments:

S.C.I.E.N.C.E.: Actually didn't expect to like this much, but holy shit, this is excellent. Like if Faith No More and Rage Against the Machine had a kid who owned a sampler and some drum machines.

Winterwell: Roulette stuff, really like the song I got from this, but the rest is rather very forgettable piano-driven singer-songwriter stuff that occasionally has electronics.

Immersion: Didn't sound that different from something Celldweller would do. Not bad, but sounds a bit dated these days.

Ten: Liked the first track, but with every song I just lost interest very fast, and not even Black did much to me. Not my thing.

Superunknown: Funny how I got into this album just a day or two before Chris died. Well, sad actually, because this is quite a rocker and is making me think not all grunge out there is oblivious :P

Disintegration: Wasn't very keen on it, but a closer listen plus a walk by town have made this grow quite a bit. Still not that fond of the production, but at least is not as overproduced as many 80s albums. Sad tunes.

Had a bit of free time so managed to listen to two more that weren't included in the pic to replace the Pearl Jam and Mree records and keep the pace:

Cheating the Polygraph: Finally got around this one, very interesting jazz versions of many Porcupine Tree classics. Glad he decided to go with a more "old-school" sound than a 50s-60s jazz approach (I know nothing about jazz so bear me on this  ). Like my gf said, like it was Whiplash arrangements of them.

宇宙 日本 世田谷 (Uchū Nippon Setagaya): I just call it "their '97 album" :lol. A friend heavily recommend me this other of their records, knowing I dig the wonderful Long Season. And fuck, he was right. This is very, very chill, soft, atmospheric, almost dreamy but without any of the cheese and lame production many of these bands had in the late 90s/early 00s. Kinda trip-hop-ish, it reminds me of No-Man - Flowermouth. I think I'm in love with it, those synths and pads, and the sampled drums and the violins aahhh :dangerwillrobinson:. Just gorgeous stuff, perfect for warm Spring day.

How they get the attention is irrelevant to me. It's what the music sounds like that I pay attention to. He might have got the push from his father, but they still have to make music that people want to continuously listen to.

And yet Adrenaline Mob exist  :lol

As much as I do not like them I can think of much better examples.  :lol

An album from a swedish group that was lost... the tapes were stolen from the norwegian studio in 1995 an almost blown up.
The norwegian army were about to blow up a hut in the mountains in 2015 when they found a box containing tapes.
The box was labelled "Nidaros studios" and the tapes "Nurse 1995". The officer ordered the explosion with content and all but  a music interested soldier recognised the studio and rescued the box.
The owner of the studio was contacted and he contacted the band whos debut album was released this year. 22 years after the recording.

The musciscians have all made careers in music since 1995... just not together. This year though they released their eccellent debut and have played a couole of shows.

For fans of bands like Jellyfish, E.L.O, City Boy and 10 CC
