Just looked at it myself. There is some horrible stuff there! :lol

I missed this discussion but I am betting that there's plenty of horrible stuff that I don't know :lol I honestly cannot remember a fraction of the bands that I have sampled and rejected over the years.  I probably checked out a dozen bands yesterday but could only name the one that I liked  :)

I like it! I wrote up a little review I'll share here:

Quote
Armored Saint just keeps getting better. It's amazing to think the band that recorded "March of the Saint" and "Raising Fear" in the 1980s, and disappeared in the 1990s, has come back stronger. But Saint has, and Carpe Noctum captures their renewed energy perfectly.

Almost half of this eight-song release are songs written in the last several years, and they all stand up well with the classics. "Win Hands Down," the lead track, kicks things into gear with a stomping groove and killer guitar solo, while frontman John Bush delivers his usual blend of melodic and soulful, yet gritty vocals. Other highlights include stirring versions of "Last Train Home" and "Reign of Fire" from arguably Armored Saint's most widely known album, Symbol of Salvation.

The only downside is how short the album is (which is why it is four-stars, instead of five). Taken from a festival appearance, one can't help but wonder why Armored Saint didn't invest the time in capturing the audio from one of its sets co-headlining with Metal Church in 2016. With a big catalog to draw from, Saint really did itself a disservice by not seizing the opportunity to showcase a longer and more diverse playlist.

Overall, Carpe Noctum is a powerful performance from a cult metal band that never got the recognition it deserved. Unlike some veteran metal bands, Armored Saint has not lost a step over the years, and incredibly, has gotten better. If you're a hardcore, picking this up is a no-brainer. If you're a metal fan looking to check out Armored Saint for the first time, in the words of John Bush, "get off the fence," and check this out.

One of those cases where the album cover kept me from listening to it for a really long time.

Woah, only 4 songs in and it's fucking awesome so far! The vocals are probably the make or break factor for most, they're very out there but I can dig 'em.

Not enough four minute songs about drinking, partying, and banging chicks.  "Theme" albums typically don't do much for me, but it's not too bad!  Excellent guitar playing.

I heard their Deliverance few months ago and I've been crazy about it since. This was only my second listen of Wiseblood which isn't as strong as Deliverance IMO but it's still a great album.
