I found this guy on YouTube, Danny Waysted, who's posting tons of old school stuff that I've never even heard of.  Figured I'd go through some of it to see if any of it was any good.  :lol

Marillion - marillion.com

Only my second spin, but it needs a bit more time for it to properly seep in, unlike some other Marillion albums.

There just has to be an album in there somewhere that Brent hasn't heard of.  Has to be.

Probably my favourite release of theirs (although they are all really solid). I love the huge, anthemic choruses they created with this album. I will be singing my heart out in a months time  :metal

I gotta say I feel in love with Slave. That song is absolutely amazing, can't wait to see it live.

BTBAM's playlist for the tour is terrible though imo.

They should have called this album The Floor Tom.  Honestly, this was kind of a letdown after Bilateral and Coal.  Rewind and The Flood are amazing tracks, but the rest leaves me wanting.

black crown initiate: pretty meh on the opener but the rest of the tracks range from solid to pretty good. as an album though i feel like this isn't very cohesive; like they haven't really found their sound and are just jumping around into a lot of different styles. doesn't mean the songs don't work on their own but the album as a whole does feel a little messy & the closer ends a bit abruptly, feels like it should've gone on a bit longer
obscure sphinx: still trying to crack this one honestly, it's very much an album-oriented album rather than individual songs, and there's a ton of great moments of atmosphere as well as some crushing riffs, but it does feel like it blurs together a bit too much. may just need more listens. i do feel the last track could've been a bit shorter too, the first half is good but the second half feels a bit repetitive.
unexpect: i like this quite a bit more than in a flesh aquarium, for sure. less of the stupid clown gimmick & less of the weird sikth-y spoken word stuff and more of a focus on tighter songwriting while honestly feeling like the go a lot more places musically than before. the opener is great, words is great, unfed pendulum is great, the closing suite is great, the rest of the songs are all pretty solid on the whole too, none i dislike. good stuff.

That sums up my feeling on Fables pretty well, though I would add Orange Vigilantes and The Quantum Symphony to the "great" category. The only tracks that I don't really care for are Mechanical Phoenix and Silence This Parasite, and they're still pretty solid.

Yep. I think the only party in the MP/DT situation that hasn't moved on is DTF.

those would probably be my two weakest, yeah. silence this parasite has the unfortunate placement of being between the two longest songs and getting pretty overshadowed. and mechanical phoenix is the most similar to the last album, in that it's kind of a mess and feels like a few song segments awkwardly shoved together  :lol
