Today I spun 3 very different albums from 3 different decades. Still love all 3:

Van Morrison - Astral Weeks
Foreigner - Head Games
Japan - Oil on Canvas

Yesterday, I listened to "Alcest - Ecailles De Lune" during a midnight walk while the neighborhood was packed in snow, it was such an ethereal experience. I already love Ecailles but it's miles better in a winter-y atmosphere for sure.

Now:

Totally addicted to this album, won't surprise me if this ends up in the top 5 or even top 3 albums at the end of the year list.

Made The TAC Top 50. An epic album. Some of the best drumming I've heard. It's a shame the band blew up shortly after. Guitarist Frederic Leclerq now wasting his time as Dragonforce's bassist. He's actually an amazing musician.
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

The album kicks off with three great tracks: Evil, Lust For Life, and Victory.

I also love Fight For Deliverance. Some sick drumming. And Hands Of Darkness is an awesome instrumental.

I've always described it as if Queen made a heavy metal album.

MindMaze - Back From the Edge

Surprised that this band doesn't get more attention.  Great songwriting, female vocalist is fantastic.

Their song The Machine Stops really reminds me of Dream Theater at points.  It's my favorite.

Great band. I've done the kickstarter for everything since the first album. Think Chad turned me onto them?
Very professional sounding with an immense production and it's great to have a female singer who doesn't either sound like bloke or go the operatic route.

They have a US tour lined up with Sirenia.

re: Madison - Diamond Mistress

Must be among my first 10 albums and I loved it back then.
Also the first time I've heard Göran Edman before he became a hired gun (John Norum, Yngwie...).
The second and last Madison album Best In Show wasn't bad either, but not as magical as Diamond Mistress.

Never heard of Heavenly. I have to check it. Heavy Metal Queen sounds intriguing.

And, yes, Demons Down is great. Tommy Aldridge rules.

Inspired by Brent's best of 2016 also rans podcast. Nine hours are going to take a while to get through if I have to keep listening to the albums! And these are the ones that didn't make it to the top 40 😱

The "classic era" Symphony X is the only band that rivals "classic era" DT in the prog metal realm to me.
