Well finally  :corn

When I think of the best straight up metal album of the 00's, I struggle to think of anything that can top this for me. It's their most ambitious album to date and it just nails it in every way possible for me. Every song is killer. I was obsessed with this album when it came out, like REALLY obsessed. I'd say my favourite track nowadays is probably Halo but really the best song on the album is always the one I'm listening to

Has this become the dated album art thread?  :lol

Some dodgy album art here if you ask me (except for Machine Head), especially that Stratovarius, is that their debut or something?

the hirsch effekt: this album definitely has a different feel than holon : agnosie. it's a bit less all over the place but still just as dynamic & has a focus on longer tracks for sure. there's less mathcore-y stuff though it's still there & the album is actually really bright in sound for the most part. it's... different and kinda weird but i dig it, still kind of figuring it out though
keelhaul: i think these guys would be better as an instrumental band but regardless they still have some great riffs and grooves here, though i can't say i'm quite into it yet, but i feel this is like el drugstore where it'll take time. very similar tbh, a lot of the same dissonant stuff too
primordial: this is only kind of folky on the whole, just enough to be satisfying without ever getting cheesy. and damn can they play some great grooves. really fun stuff to listen to. maybe a bit homogeneous overall but it's a good sound

So Hideous - Laurestine: Probably my favourite discovery of last year not counting 2016 albums, it is like blackened shoegaze or something, but with the most epic complementary orchestration, can't quite describe it but this album is my definition of the word 'epic' when describing music.
Toundra - III: Great album by this spanish post-rock band with some unique touches here and there. Not the best I've heard, but the song "Requiem" is one of the best things I've heard in a while.
Soen - Cognitive: The amazing singles they have released in anticipation of the new album still floor me, but this debut album is still a bit meh. Has some great songs in Fraccions, Slithering and Savia but overall not great.
The Mars Volta - Amputechture: What would a Train of Naught post be without TMV? This album has just surpassed Bedlam in Goliath and Deloused in the Comatorium in my rankings to claim the #2 spot behind Frances, it is that great and I can't believe how much I underappreciated this one until recently.
people on this board are actual music fans who developed taste in music and not casual listeners who are following current fashion trends and listening to only current commercial hits.

My favorite Kiss album.

I could live without the Criss tracks (not that they're awful) - that aside there's not much that I can fault.  Top album.

Mainline is the weakest track on there for sure. But Strange Ways might be my favorite on the album.

Great songs on it, but the muddy production keeps it from being higher on my Kiss album ranking. I have a soft spot for it though, it was the first Kiss album I bought as a new fan.
Zydar is my new hero.  I just laughed so hard I nearly shat.

Strange Ways I go a bit hot, hot and cold on (and the chorus is mostly Gene anyway) , but yeah - Mainline is the clear weak point.

My first KISS album was Killers on release in 1982 , aged 8yo.  My first album purchase  - and I still have the cassette.
