Other things I've listened to this week.  Trying to listen to everything in my collection this year.  We'll see how it goes!  Anyway, here's some of my playlist from this week:

Didn't you say, the other night, that this was the only Coheed album you've listened to? I hope you listen to the next two albums, in chronological order, after SSTB  :metal

SSTB is bloody fantastic. I think it might be my favourite Coheed album at this point. I just love the raw punkish-emoish vibe that the album has.

I really love SSTB as well, it's a great album which is really impressive as a debut. But favourite Coheed album? I can't say the same, they just have other albums that break my top 10 of all time so SSTB will always be lower in my Coheed ranking. Time Consumer may be a top 10 Coheed song for me though.

I was in town today, not something that happens often - it's too people-y out there  and I briefly went into the only cd shop we have left and its crap. They had that Damned Nation album in the 3 for £5 deal so I bought it. Along with the Bill and Ted 2 soundtrack and Little Angels' Jam, both of which are to replace my cassettes.

second time listening to this and, well,

it's great tbh

i dunno how to classify this, it's listed as doom metal but that only feels kind of true? there's a lot of bluesy bits and a proggy vibe throughout & the metal feels closer to stoner metal than anything to me

but i, definitely like it, a lot
it's kind of like elder? but i think i like this more. less noodling and more emotive presence.
i might get this but i also wanna get that panzerballett album that's been a pain in the butt to get...

Tried to find something to study to but this is too good to be the background music. I remember I was listening to it a while ago after I heard Hymn to the Immortal Wind and it didn't leave a really good impression. I guess I was wrong...

this is still pretty solid though it definitely doesn't do as much for me as their latest. only listened to it because it's way cheap on importcds rn tbh

more than anything i feel there's a notable black metal influence on this release, but ironically that makes it less interesting? i dunno. it was still good that's for sure and i may pick it up later but i definitely wasn't feeling it as strongly

It's not too much of a black metal influence. The band's name is almost recognizable.
