I've tried to get into Anvil but they just do nothing for me for the most part. 60% sounds about right. They have some good tunes on their first three albums and their documentary was pretty good as well

Why do you do it to yourself Brent? So we don't have to?  :lol

:tup   Just for a laugh and because I always aim to be as comprehensive as possible with my 2016 review , even to my own detriment. My rating would be in the 60's - has a few decent songs..

That Big Bad Wolf is considered an underground AOR classic by many - I thought it was bloody awful  ;D  A ballad...............Cutting Edge or something...........was one of the few I found listenable from memory.    Only kept the CD because I thought it may become a rarity of value.

I enjoyed it for what it was but certainly no great lost classic. Better than the recent Frontiers stuff.

came back and listened to this one properly and it's actually pretty cool. a lot rougher and more intense than other intronaut stuff but i dig it. honestly their latest album feels closest to this one, just more refined

and tbh not mixed as well, bass being too low is my biggest complaint with the direction of last things but it's good here

pretty solid DT-style metal. but it's way too long. i sort of tuned out after the fourth track and didn't really tune back in until the last track tbh. the first and last track feel like the best tracks but the second track was pretty good too. fourth track was maybe a bit too weird and out there but it was alright enough. would need further listens to dissect this and it'll probably be one of the ones i revisit before deciding whether or not i want to get it but it's solid

It's wrong to release black metal album in April, but after more than a half year, it was worth waiting :D

Found the first few tracks a little underwhelming but holy shit the second half of the record is stellar all the way through (Untitled 5 through 8)

Awesome that you checked that album out Train! I think you might really like Takk... and Ágætis byrjun too. Kveikur is really good in my opinion too, it's got a bit more electronic and ambient influences but lacks some of the awesome build ups from their earlier albums.

I had to check this out, it's really beautiful  Some tracks feel a little samey or not too interesting but overall I did really enjoy listening to this. His voice is just so soothing.

Just really solid post rock

king crimson: it's a bit of an immediate album that loses its luster after a pretty small number of listens but it's still pretty solid, way more interesting than other prog rock around the time tbh. providence is kinda lame though
spectral lore: oh man. talk about a diverse and compelling release. i think i prefer the second disc, the last two tracks are my favorite on the entire album, but the whole thing is really quite solid and goes by a lot faster than you'd expect a nearly 90 minute album to. even the tracks that aren't as interesting are still plenty enjoyable to listen to. i don't *love* love this (yet) but it's one of the better BM releases I've checked out this year for sure
thy catafalque: was a little hard on this at first, giving it more listens and it's really pretty solid. not the best thy catafalque album but i probably like it more than at least tuno. and it's a weird sort of meta-album in that there's a lot of reprises of stuff from previous albums but done in an interesting enough way and alongside a lot of new stuff too to not just be a complete retread. the 20 minute song is a bit meh though, tbh

This is certainly on my list to listen to after my roulette. The Conference of the Birds was definitely a cool song.

Nice Jason. I prefer that one to the classic Live and Dangerous because of the set list.

I think Siraly might be my favorite song off Meta for this very reason.

That's not it :lol   I was just referrring to the random photos from summer idea above.   This album is a very raw demo quality thing that I stumbled onto during my trawling - not totally awful but not something I bothered to track down
