Their new one is pretty good for that style of power metal

This really is a grower IMO. I always considered Little Man their best, but more recently I have given that title to Variations on a Dream. Pineapple Thief at their best back in the day before the decline, sadly the last 3-4 albums haven't been that good.

I think Magnolia is one of their best actually, it's a bit more mainstream probably, but it's good some really good and even quite catchy alt rock songs.

I listened to Coma Ecliptic again the other day. That album really leaves me cold, I really don't find it memorable at all. There are a couple of good moments but they are few and far between for me. Do you like it?

Not really. But it was my first listen and I did it while studying so :D I'll try again in a few days.

After Forever - s/t
I listen to this album about once every 3 or 4 months and always enjoy it. A few hours later though I can't remember anything from it.

Angel Witch - s/t (25th Anniversary Extended Edition)
NWOBHM classic! I can remember having the vinyl copy of this album in my hands and listening to it on headphones in one of the listening booths that were in the music store back in 1981 (Andromeda music, Adelaide SA for anyone who's been to Adelaide. Terrific record shop - I spent hours browsing there in 1981/2) Don't remember what I ended up buying, but it wan't this
Finally ended up buying this CD 3 or 4 years back. Wish there would be more reissues of some of those early NWOBHM artists. Almost impossible to find Diamond Head, Tygers of Pan Tang, Praying Mantis, Vardis etc here in Australia.

Many of those NWOBHM bands are so cool, but most of them are so obscure. That's a shame

I recently read a review on it and once it mentioned Doom, I didn't really consider it.
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

I recently read a review on it and once it mentioned Doom, I didn't really consider it.

I am basically the same Tim - doom = no room (in my collection)  :D

Not my normal cup of tea at all - it's a mix of gothic, doom , atmospheric/ambient with whispery female vocals.............all anathema to me (I'm on a roll)

All I will say is that I'm currently half way through and it's about as interesting as this sort of music gets for me.  Might get a rating in the 80's - it all gets a bit "samey" and I'd need to be in the mood.

My interest was piqued (you're about the only person I have ever seen spell that correctly  :tup ) not only by the deluge of great reviews but also the story of the singer sadly passing away just before release.

both the drum sound and drum mixing on this is awful and the end result is that the drums overwhelm everything while also sounding like crap
the album also comes off as pretty monotonous and it'd be nice if there was some degree of melody here
i mean it's fine enough, maybe i'd like it more on relistening but right now it's not doing a lot for me

That worth buying? I'm generally a fan, but their last 3 albums have all blurred together to me in one big long song of sameness. Is the new one anything different or pretty much the same?

I'll let you know when I'm finished. :lol  The first song (well the first song after the music intro) is exceedingly catchy. It does remind me of their last couple of releases, but I'll give it a couple of more listens before ultimately deciding how I feel about it.

:tup   Just for a laugh and because I always aim to be as comprehensive as possible with my 2016 review , even to my own detriment. My rating would be in the 60's - has a few decent songs..

That Big Bad Wolf is considered an underground AOR classic by many - I thought it was bloody awful  ;D  A ballad...............Cutting Edge or something...........was one of the few I found listenable from memory.    Only kept the CD because I thought it may become a rarity of value.
