Duncan Patterson's other band (played bass and keys for Anathema 91-98). This is like if Anathema circa Alternative 4/Judgement removed all the electric guitars and added some electronics and female vocals, with the same production. I wouldn't mind that last part, had this album not been released on 2002...

The Golden Hair cover was fantastic but that's just not the kind of music they play themselves apparently

...but it's pretty decent. Like a hybrid of Anathema and Portishead.

I feel you dude. My obsession for this band was full on once it hit, which took a while I must admit.

Can still listen to these albums just as much as I did 7 years ago, no problem  :lol

Pretty good. Only one or two bad/skipable songs (Poison In Your Veins Twilight and Island of Fools kinda bored/annoyed me personally) but maybe they are growers. Overall you won't be disappointed if you were a fan of some of the heavier stuff AB has done. Full writeup coming soon probably in the Groove Train thread but I have only listened to it once now and all I can say is there is a few really good songs (This Side of Fate, Crows on a Wire, The Other Side and (the ending of) the title-track) but none are nearly as good as Blackbird for instance.

Also agreeing with the general consensus of it being slightly too long, shoulda kept it to 60 minutes, but I'm pretty happy with this release so far.

Tycho - Dive

Really love his music. It's like the perfect electronic music to have going on in the background while doing things. Maybe not on par with something like Boards of Canada, but I really enjoy all of his albums.

maybe a bit pretentious to say but i feel like this is what death metal is supposed to sound like?
i mean, i dunno if i like it even still.
they have some interesting ideas and a solid sound overall, but
...this ends up feeling pretty samey a lot of the time, aside from the classical track.
the few quieter moments in the other songs are pretty nice though.
i like the bass presence here.
i'd probably get into this more on relistens.

i just realized i forgot to do this for these ones.

devin: this is a fine enough album, but it's really not breaking any new ground. failure is probably the best cut here, though i like the title track and the last two a fair bit as well (and yeah i know it's a cover but the long ambient outro is great too). he needs to stop, though. this doesn't feel as fresh as even sky blue, which wasn't even that fresh to begin with.
elder: i just. dig their sound. all five tracks have a pretty similar vibe to them but it's all the colorful guitar work and grooves that keep me interested in this. it's the kind of music i'd love to pick apart and find out how all the pieces work. doesn't hit me as hard as thank you scientist (which is in a similar vein) but i still like this
eluvium: the closer track on here is phenomenal and the rest of the album is pretty solid on the whole as well. looks like he found this one synth voice he really liked and there's a lot of it throughout, but mostly this is the keyboard heavy counterpart to talk amongst the trees' guitar drone ambience, and i like both a lot.

Yeah I had the first reaction to Lore when I heard it. I probably like Dead Roots Rising a bit more than this album but the best song of both records is on Lore which is obviously Compendium.

And I guess I'll keep my Transcendance thoughts to The Groove Train
