Yep. I think the only party in the MP/DT situation that hasn't moved on is DTF.

Plan on checking this one out soon. So far I've heard only Act IV. Is it any good?

Was not too impressed after my first listen but it's growing on me really quickly.

Yes, it's pretty good. I didn't like Act IV on first few listens either.

Skeleton Tree: This is quickly cementing its spot atop my 2016 rankings. Such an emotional album throughout.
Transcendence: Definitely a great album. A bit of a lull in the middle (not the biggest fan of Stars and the title track), but the first four tracks and the last three are really good. Higher, despite what other people say about it, is a fucking beast and probably my favourite on the album.
Terria: Yeah, this is still brilliant. I haven't done album rankings in a long time, but I'm thinking that this might be my #1 now, I certainly prefer it to the previous #1 now.
Hypnotize: This was my previous #1 album, and while it's still amazing, my appreciation for it has dropped slightly. Vicinity of Obscenity and She's Like Heroin offer very little that I want to come back to, imo, so that's a drag, even though all the other tracks are absolutely stellar. Soldier Side is still my favourite song of all time though.
Sex Offender: Still as much as I remember it being. I really should listen to DFD/PC more, they're such great bands.
Act V: My first listen to this, and I like what I'm hearing. Definitely requires a lot more listens though.

Easily my favourite from these guys. Really pumped to see them in a few weeks with Oceans of Slumber. Tickets were only £10!! So cheap it's unreal.

Managed to convince two of my buddys to come with so it's going to be awesome. One of them is a full on metal head so he will be fine. The other.......he's not into metal really and has never been to see a live band this heavy but he's up for it. Should be an eye opener  :lol

Good selection!! Love the SH games. Can't really remember much about the soundtracks to be honest. It's been a few years!! I do love a good video game soundtrack though.

Opeth, obviously hyped for this.

Soulsavers?? Never heard of them but interesting cover. What are they like?

The sountracks on their own are excellent actually - I wrote this for the first one:

Damn, took me some time to get around this one! Maybe that's because it's been quite a while since I last played this game. I'll be honest, I thought it was quite bland but got the impression the soundtrack was nice. So revisiting it now I'm very impressed - dark industrial assaults of sounds and noises, disturbing ambient pieces, and some wonderful trip-hop tracks like Killing Time. Very influenced by Reznor (according to Yamaoka himself) and Badalamenti, feels like a very twisted Twin Peaks at times. Definitely better than what I expected when returning to it.

New Opeth is actually quite good, considering I haven't enjoyed anything they've done besides Damnation.

Soulsavers are like... trip-hop and gospel with some rock in between. It's kinda weird and a bit cheesy but quite interesting music.

Nice, might revisit SH via the soundtrack sometime. I like the occasional bit of NIN so a Reznor influence is fine by me.

Opeth I have a feeling I will prefer more than PC and Heritage, although I don't dislike either.

Soulsavers I might dabble. Bearing in mind the only trip-hop I really listen to is Portishead. I've tried a bit of Massive Attack but they didn't do a great deal for me.

The first one is definitely darker, the second SH has more of a trip-hop vibe I love.

Soulsavers are in the Portishead vein. But if you're interested on more of the genre, there's this project I've been working on.

Really want to play the third game for its OST tbh, heard it's quite trippy.

That's a really cool/sweet thing to do with your girlfriend. I must admit I find it a bit daunting to sometimes dive into a whole new genre when I don't have much of a point of reference as to what I like. I actually just sent this onto my girlfriend. She rips on me all the time for going on a music forum, she thinks it's a bit too geeky. She actually loves this style of music way more than I do. She got tickets for us to see Massive Attack earlier this year, which is not something I would have ever done. It was cool.

She will either think your project is really cool or really lame. Not sure which way it's going to go. We don't have much crossover in our musical tastes but when we are chilling together we tend to listen to 6 Radio (which is pretty cool). I am going to try to persuade her to pick some random albums from your list and we can listen together.

Cheers for this Sacul. I'll let you know how it goes

Yeah we'll make some kind of introductory or "how to get into" the genre thing some day, maybe a flowchart or a list, dunno. Will let you know when/if it happens. Hope your gf fins something nice there!

I'd recommend you to pick some we have really enjoyed, like Ganglion or A New Stereophonic Sound Spectacular, but some random stuff should work too  :tup
