what's up with wildernesses

Beats me. Especially if none are particularily wild (apart from OMA)...

i want to get off mr. shining's wild ride

(but no this is actually... really awesome? the album just gets more and more unhinged as it goes on and it's absolutely visceral, blackjazz deathtrance is crushing)

Yep, this is a good one. I'm not the biggest fan of power metal but this seems right up my alley.

graviton: this is like, the most "post-" that post-metal has ever been. there's barely any metal, actually, imo. and some electronic or acoustic interlude tracks. it feels like a metal band making a non-metal album. that's what post-metal means, essentially, so. and i like it, dunno if i love it, but it's interesting
inter arma: first half of this is kind of boring. primordial wound especially, is just 10 minutes of nothing. and then the back of the album is kind of awesome? potomac plain and simple rocks, the title track is a great epic, violent constellations is pretty interesting and intense, and the closer is gorgeous. shame i half to sit through tracks 2-4 though.
oak pantheon: i find it hard to have an opinion on this yet tbh, it's very pretty and heavily post-rock infused black metal and it doesn't really stand out in any major way but i find myself enjoying it plenty regardless. parts of climb and enormity especially, just rule

I really like it. I think I prefer the next album slightly more. It has a definite Trent Reznor/NIN vibe in the vocal delivery on the next album.

i'll be honest that i'm probably not in the right mindset for something this chaotic right now but  :lol
seems pretty cool. it's got a solid claim to heaviness and even with all the weirdness it's still cohesive enough to not sound garbled and random, just weird

Indeed solid.  :lol

But, some nice old school style metal with crazy high vocals and a few over the top moments, I like it.

Folie à Deux - Fall Out Boy. I hated and even trash-talked emo for YEARS, and then heard this album in full in January. Just another case of learning not to judge a book by its cover.
