how is that?
I can't really review it from a classical music nut's perspective as , although I studied as a young'un , it hasn't stayed with me and I rarely listen to it. And I am only half way through my first listen..........
Having said that I think it is very strong and really beautiful in parts , which is no small task given a cast of 100+ - it's a mile better than anything Malmsteen has done in ages (from a neoclassical perspective) and it's right up there with any symphonic stuff I have heard in recent years. If you want to pick it to pieces from a purist's point of view then I am sure it'll be easy as he has added vocals/lyrics (some of them rather lame but thankfully I take little notice of lyrics
) and the first track is an original that really has nothing to do with Vivaldi.
If the thought of a symphonic metal album loosely based around familiar themes from Vivaldi's FOur Seasons appeals then I expect that you will really enjoy it. I was sceptical going in but am (so far) quite impressed and expect it to be up there in a few Best of 2016 lists..
