Julia Dream might be one of my favourite Pink Floyd songs ever, such a lovely flute and melody

Kinda ironic personally that my two favorite Massive Attack songs (Unfinished Sympathy and Protection) aren't in their most praised album.

it's time to play "match the tidbits", i randomized these on random.org
"this album has a cool sound that i really like and my general feeling is that the album only gets better the more it goes on"
"well, i like about half of this album, but the other half bores or annoys me"
"it's a solid album on the whole but there's no really great tracks and a fair bit of filler"
"this album is quite good for its first half, abruptly runs out of steam, and is pretty dull for its second half"

Hm, they are definitely pretty good albums but, Homogenic aside, i always feel there's a couple songs that i don't care for and give me the urge to skip in any of her albums.

Silver lining is, the high points are always fantastic.
Debut is my favourite Bjork album. Post is horribly hit and miss. The entire album is back and forth between brilliant tracks and average/bad tracks. Homogenic is good the whole way, but try as I might, I'm just lukewarm to almost everything of it. Based on those reactions, I haven't seen any point in checking out more.

Kinda ironic personally that my two favorite Massive Attack songs (Unfinished Sympathy and Protection) aren't in their most praised album.
Blue Lines is still an amazing album though. I like it a wee bit better than Mezzanine even. And Protection is most likely my favourite song of theirs.

As for me,

I think i feel that way about Debut, Post and Vespertine, but mostly great tracks than average. To be honest, i think i like them near equally (which is quite a bunch) :D

Homogenic rises above those because it's pretty consistent for me.

As for me, I'm still sifting through the roulette albums, still got like.. 25 to go. Currently on Primal Fear - Delivering the Black, started off really strong but kinda lost me near the end, it was still solid though.

Thunderstone - Tools of Destruction, not really my thing, the song you sent is still great but an entire album was too much
Frost* - Milliontown, amazing album, this is gonna be a purchase for sure

Journey and Celldweller are still on the list to check out, won't be too long. And Circle of Illusion is still a maybe, not sure about it. Also kinda interested in some more of Black Mages but like CoI not sure about it yet, depends on my free time.

I think that's it.

Pretty much everyone's reaction to Circle of Illusion is lukewarm. I'm not sending them in roulettes anymore even though I really like that album. :lol

I scored decently with Whitesnake didn't I?

The original version of the song I sent is from Saints & Sinners, but what I sent was actually a re-recorded version released on a self-titled album. You should listen to that. :tup

Roger. Actually couldn't care less what song the album is on, if the person sending me the song recommends me another album it's enough reason to prioritize that one, but by default, yes, I go with the album that song was on.

Probably my Album of the Year at this point  :heart

I haven't had a time to check it out yet but unfortunately I haven't heard many good things. :/ A lot of "Kashiwa Daisuke half-assing it" and "It's not close to the first one", but I will check it out either way.

Anyhow, OnT: British Theatre - Mastery. Definitely my AOTY so far. I was sad when Oceansize broke up, but with Vennart's solo album last year and now this, things are looking good.

also i could never get too hyped for the vennart solo album, i gave it a few listens and it was solid but was lacking a lot of what i really liked about oceansize
may check out the british theatre album tho

I can understand why they say so - there are no electronics nor big innovations on this album, just Daisuke on his piano plus some chamber musicians on strings and a jazz drummer. I think the beauty and passion of these tracks just make up for the lack of "creativity" or whatever people are complaining about.

Don't have my list right now, but I can atleast say that Kyuss album was amazing, anything above 7.5/10 is a purchase in the future for me, if not immediately. (7.5/10 may sound average but I rarely score 8/10 or higher for albums, in fact, only one album this year got a higher score than 8.5/10 from me, TGM by BTBAM) And that Kyuss album is one of my favorites so far :tup Same thing with the Bent Knee album, liked the album a lot but Being Human was definitely not my favorite.

Igorrr is also on my list, the song didn't score too high but I'm very interested in it. Already got In Absentia earlier, same for the Destrage album. And I don't remember if it was you who sent Riverside or someone else, but Love Fear Time Machine is on the list too.

Gotta say, with those first few tracks being total earworms in mind I might be able to appreciate the whole a bit more, but I'm going to wait for the right setting this time :tup

After like 5+ listens I don't think I like 1985 as much as most seem to, but fuck man, The Architect is so good, that's by far my favorite of the album right now.

This album has likely surpassed Gore for AOTY 2016 so far, but it's hella close.

i'm legit tempted to call the title track of the apologist a 10/10 song, i really can't find any fault with it other that the fact that its ending is a segue (which works perfectly in context of the album so it's not even a problem) and there's so many fantastic moments it's unreal aaahh

okay i gave this a spin

it's okay but not really my thing, a fair bit of electronic stuff i dislike but some pretty gorgeous songs here too

i'd call it a great example of
“Zantera / Sacul music”
i guess
