Masterplan just relesead an album with Helloween songs that were written by Grapow. I think it's a little overproduced, but for the most parts, i like it. Not better than the original recordings, but i like it. the vocals work best in the Deris's era songs.

If they tour playing this album, i think i will go.

Thanks to Lowdz for both.   :tup

Jon... 5 :metal , 1 wtf.  You don't disappoint.  I'm sure that the Dave Weckl Band is wicked, just that it sticks out like a sore thumb with the other 5

I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

black peaks: no surprise that i dig this a lot, it's just all around pretty enjoyable. lots of good hooks, lots of interesting and complex instrumentation, just dynamic in general. i'd say saviour is still my favorite but there's a lot of tracks here i quite like and none i dislike so yeah roulette is already some kind of success no matter what
intronaut: it's like the sixth intronaut release i've gotten and the fifth one i've not been disappointed by. what else is there to say. uhh. track 3 is prob my favorite but they're all good
mare cognitum/spectral lore: this is three tracks but it feels like five because each of the two big epics stops halfway for an ambient break, so, that's a thing. anyways it's just solid black metal, from both of them. dunno if either track is that memorable but they're enjoyable enough. the ambient track is maybe a bit too long or uninteresting though, dunno

that album is one of my top albums of the 2000s.  #39 in my top 50 list from a few years back.

Is that the one that sounds like pretty much all his other albums?  A few nice riffers, a couple of ballads, and a bluesy solo-heavy 6+minute track?

No, it's the other one that has a great singer, a few nice riffers, a couple of ballads, and a bluesy solo-heavy 6+minute track. Err, yes. Yes it is.
