G'morning all. Just got back from my long run of the week, and my legs feel like they'd very much like me to not use them at all the rest of the day. Don't think that's in the cards though.

My wife just got back from a week-long trip to Dallas, TX for a class and exam. She passed. She is in IT security/audit, and the exam was for the CISSP designation. I am a proud hubby.

AND I didn't burn the house down while she was gone!

It is a musician's Disneyland. Mind you, I don't really play to any worthwhile level, but I was in heaven. Want to test drive guitars and basses from some of the most world renowned luthiers? Here's your change to play them and chit chat with the shop owners / builders. Want to watch Seymour Duncan himself hand wind a pickup? Want to watch masters of your craft demo the latest and greatest (*cough cough Jordan Rudess's wet dream*)?

And the amount of famous musicians there... I met Dug Pinnick and Zakk Wylde at a Schecter signing... Dug sang to me... Zakk, was talking home loans to someone and didn't say a word to me... (really a turn off). Ran into Dug like 3 times on the foor as well. Also literally came within an inch of bumping into Nicko McBrain as I was walking, because my buddy pointed out that Jordan Rudess was walking by. Or my favourite from Sunday... my buddy and I walking looking for a booth, and I saw a bit of red hair in the corner of my eye... Dave Mustaine was walking behind us.

So many cute girls. So many chill people. We met a chill dude in line for the Zakk and Dug signing.. who runs a radio show out of New York. Also met a vegan couple at a vegan restaurant who were pretty bad ass.

We were able to score tickets to the Schecter NAMM Party at the Grove of Anaheim... Kyng, Kings X, and Zakk Sabbath played. Booze and Monsters were flowing freely. No seriously.. Unlimited free booze. Best. Night. Ever.

It's worth going to. I am lucky that I have connections to get in, and I live 2 hours from the event. My buddies go every year. This was my first year, and will NOT be my last!

I once went to a Drum Expo in London as it was dirt cheap and loads of famous drummers were there.

Walked around a few times. Saw some famous drummers hanging out.

Wasn't allowed to touch / play any drums.

Left pissed off.

I worked out the route I do for my power-walk. it's just over half a mile all uphill and I walk it as fast as I can.

I'm totally spent at the top. It's a really steep hill and I'm power walking it. Shins and chest on fire and totally out of breath.

Doing that once a night plus my no sugar , eating properly, drinking lots of water regime should help a lot. ( I hope ).

I've got hurt ligaments in my right arm and left leg so i can't really do weights or anything.

That's good kotow although you certainly already look in shape, I'm no nutritionist but is cutting 100% of sugar good for you? I mean, I'd imagine it's all good to eat some natural sugar that's in fruits. I haven't had a soda in over 6 months now to help cut sugar out of my diet, but I still love fruit smoothies. Also haven't cut out the sugar in my coffee.

Jay, that sounds like a good time. I'd love to meet Nicko McBrain. Guy seems like the coolest dude.

I don't have sugar in my tea / coffee and I have quit having snacks like biscuits etc.

And I haven't had a soft drink since Jan 1st apart from one 330 ml can of coke for my little brother's birthday.

i still eat fruit and Muesli cereal which contains tiny amounts of natural sugar. ( but no salt or sugar added ).

I may not look overweight but i'm only 5'8" ( 175 cm ) and i'm about 180lbs so my BMI is on the bad side.

I've not been really trim for many a year so I finally want to make it happen.
