Well we just had half of our Xmas eve plans canceled due to a sick child, which other than her being sick, isn't a bad thing all in all. Would have been crazy hectic. Still going to my in-laws for their Xmas eve.

Does anyone know why - in cartoons - if a door or a rock or something in the background is going to open or move - it's a noticeably different colour.

Different layer of cel ? Colour not matching due to different depths ? Cels not lining up perfectly ?

Always wondered.

Always wondered.

I don't think the background layer is even on a cell since it's opaque, probably paper, so they can be drawn/painted differently.
Also, the paint for each cell layer has to be mixed slightly brighter depending on how far back it is, because each cell layer dims the ones behind it slightly.

My favourite part of Christmas is first thing in the morning, when it's just me and my brother and sister exchanging gifts. It's all downhill from there once the rest of the family gets involved.

My mum lost two of dad's gifts, looked everywhere but couldn't find them, then wasn't sure if she may have even forgot to bring them home at all. Broke down into tears and didn't stop for the rest of the day for various reasons. Then she gave dad some tickets for a show, and got nothing but a douchey response which set her off again.

I'm not a scrooge or anything, but I'm just over Christmas. It's more trouble than it's worth in this house. I don't need gifts, and get nagged all month about what I want. The bad outweighs the good these days.
