I'm sure there have been way worse atrocities at concerts, but still, it was irritating. There's one 3 lane one way road that encircles the whole of the Giant Center/Chocolate World/Amusement Park/Stadium complex. All parking lots have to exit to this road, turn right, and follow around out to the main road, Hersheypark Drive (HPD).
There were so many people at this event that they had turned all of the empty fields across the other side of HPD into parking lots also (they had to, as there were still plenty of people parked there for the amusement park and not the concert). So while people are waiting to drive out, all traffic is being stopped to let hordes of people cross the main thoroughfare through Hershey. People that likely had to climb over fences just to be able to GET to HPD to cross to get to their cars or fences to contend with on the other side.
We left half way through the encore and still managed to sit around mostly going nowhere, then gradually inching along, for 45 minutes, at least. All the while, people are getting back to their cars, and doing 18 point turns within the limited amount of parking area they now had to work with, just to try to get turned around and nose into the line of traffic.
They have to bring in help from out of town to help manage the seating and parking for these events. 9/10 times, you ask someone in the stadium a question and they're like "Well, I don't really know, I'm from Philadelphia" or something similar. Useless.
I love going to concerts, but I f*cking hate people. The more we go to, the more irritated I get with being jammed into teensy tiny folding chair seating. I've been in coat closets roomier than the space I had to try to stand/sit in last night.
Then on top of all of that, when I leave this morning, my usual route to work is blocked by someone with an huge RV sticking out of their driveway blocking most of the intersection. Police had to direct traffic around it. I get by the clog and am on my way, and just happen to look and notice that my inspection sticker says 5/16. WTF? How do I get in my car twice a day, 5 times a week, at the very least and NOT notice that the inspection ran out two fucking months ago?
