I'm feeling pretty nervous about picking up the Benz this morning. I'm sure Gil did a great job but I have no idea what they are going to charge me. The bid was $875.00 but he's had the car for nearly a month. There will be bid over-runs.

It hasn't, my gf has been home and I've been moving my stuff out of the hotel. I've been studying the book but I have yet to set up the switches. I will do that this week!

Went out to put fish fertilizer in the garden last night and brushed up against a big bush that overhangs the one corner of the garden.  Finished up, went back inside, sat down for a bit, felt something on my neck.  Very tiny tick crawling around.



Immediately flushed it and got in the shower and scrubbed the fuck out of myself.  God I hate that shit.

Good morning all.

Managed to trigger a reset/restore of my cell phone after I put it in my pocket without locking it as I got off the train this morning. Sure hope I can get my contacts back.

Not to my knowledge, as it was still crawling.  I caught it heading for the hairline on the back of my neck.  Had it gotten to my hair unnoticed, I may never have known.  EWWWWW, it freaks me the fuck out.

I believe if a tick bites you, it's head remains stuck under the skin until you pull on the body and rip it off, leaving the head buried in your skin, or hold fire to the back end of it, prompting it to remove it's head itself. I don't think I"ve ever heard of a tick biting someone, sucking it's fill of blood, ballooning out, and then walking away.

I could be wrong.

Coz you surely know this but watch out for a bullseye.

oh yikes that sucks. I still have no contacts whatsoever because I got an iPhone for Christmas and Tracfone couldn't transfer my stuff so my phone has nothing and nobody in it. very sad.

They covered this on QI. Indeed - if you pull it off - it may leave some of it behind. And if you attempt to burn it off - it may vomit all of it's foreign blood into you.

The best thing to do they claimed was to leave it on and it would simply fall off when " done".

I started reading the first book for my CCIE studies. This is going to a loooong journey.

The material for the CCNA is pretty dense as it is, I can't imagine what the CCIE is.

Is it all the moving of actual furniture ? If so - force your self to do the hardest stuff FIRST that way it just gets easier as you go along.

That or get it over with as soon as you can. I find the best way to get something over with is not to keep putting it off but just to DO IT NOW and get it over with.

Then when it is done - you're like " ah that wasn't so bad " or " ah it's actually over with ".

I'm lucky (?) i guess. When I moved flat the last time - the worst part was getting out of the FUCKING tenancy agreement - as I documented in depth on this forum.

I'm not a very materialistic guy and everything I owned fit in one car journey.

Well long story short is the hotel is being sold and I store a lot of my stuff here. I live in an apartment with my gf and space is limited. So we sold our old furniture to my brother and his gf who are getting their own place soon.

The rest of it is my motorcycle parts and tools, I'm storing those at my moms place. Finally in one of the smaller hotel rooms I stored my pictures, old documents, and some old cloths that I need to go through and get rid of.

You should be super picky and throw anything you don't really really want to keep.

ugh moving. So glad we haven't done that since 2001... but unfortunately in the years since then my mother died and all of her things had to be gone through, packed up, put in storage, paid for, taken out of storage, gone through again, and then brought to MY house because it's biggest of all my siblings... then my brother died and we had to clean out his entire house AND several of his rental properties... multiple trips 90 minutes away and 90 minutes back with car, truck, and trailer loads of stuff that again all got nominated to be stored at MY house... then my other brother got evicted so we had to drive just under 2 hours to his place and rent a uhaul and pack his entire apartment up for him (he's had two heart attacks and can't do that stuff) and bring it and him all down here to our town and help him move into a new place...

never be the family with the biggest house, or with a truck and trailer. Pro tip from me to you all.

(edit: and by "store at my house" I mean "keep here indefinitely because getting rid of anything upsets people yet nobody has any desire or motivation to bring any of it to their own house, constantly telling me "I don't have room but don't get rid of it".)

Will do.  Yeah, it had only been maybe 20 minutes from contact with the overhanging bush (undoubtedly where it came from) to when I felt it crawling around, so it's entirely unlikely it had done anything heinous yet.  I have a Tick Key at the house for this reason.
