As mentioned in the first thread, pick your five favorite songs from this year. Two will advance to the 80s finals.

The ultimate goal: to see what DTF's favorite number 1 song of the 1980s is.

Here we have the choices for 1988.  Many to choose from yet again.

YOU CAN VOTE FOR FIVE SONGS.

Dirty Diana - Michael Jackson
Sweet Child O' Mine - Guns N' Roses
Need You Tonight - INXS
Father Figure - George Michael
Love Bites - Def Leppard

This is exactly why I think people remember the 80s differently than reality.  *Hard Rock* might have made an impression, but it really wasn't as big as remembered.  I recall most not caring for it.  And what they did care for was usually the hard rock that wasn't really my thing (Pour Some Sugar on Me).

Dirty Diana is one of my favorite MJ songs.  I'm not a George Michael fan by a long shot, but Father Figure is really well done.  My girlfriend was way into him, so that probably made me take more note of him had I she not been around.

Honestly, the songs that were hits for this year are starting to get lame at this point.  I think this is partly why I started going into a heavy anti-pop phase in my life.

Hold On to The Nights
Roll With It
Sweet Child O’ Mine
Love Bites
Bad Medicine

So many songs that I know but so few that I care about.
Must've been Kwyji sending all the wrong songs.   ;D

Never Gonna Give You Up
The Flame
Sweet Child of Mine
Bad Medicine

There are others that, had they been other songs by the same band, I probably would've picked them.  Def Leppard and Poison are the examples here.  Love Bites is easily one of my least favorite Def Leppard songs and I wouldn't be upset if I never heard Every Rose ever again.

Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

Yep. I think the only party in the MP/DT situation that hasn't moved on is DTF.

Advancing to the next round:

Sweet Child O' Mine - Guns N' Roses
Never Gonna Give You Up - Rick Astley
Man in the Mirror - Michael Jackson

Note: a 3rd song was added from this year because there were 30+ entries.
