If you aren't familiar with them, I do recommend checking them out, because they are one of my favorite groups in mainstream alt-pop right now.
Anything that gets pink or better is on the list. Some things that were not awarded stars are on it too.

Evermind - Scorpions - Humanity
Two diamond stars in a row...has your second conquest begun? Perhaps it has.

Perhaps it indeed has! I certainly hope so. Glad you liked the song.

I'll excuse the ending as you suggested since you mentioned that this was a concept album, so I'm guessing it will make sense when I listen to the album.

It won't, but I already got the diamond star for the song, so who cares. :lol The album is killer though, I definitely recommend it.

Regarding Border Reiver, well, this makes sense. I didn't really know you favor celtic influence and not strongly opposed to the country style at the time (otherwise I'd probably sent the title track from Privateering), and I was biased because Dream of the Drowned Submariner is probably my favourite Knopfler solo song. Border Reiver is my second favourite from Get Lucky though, my favourite song being So Far From the Clyde. I'm happy for Tomislav scoring a silver star with this song - especially since he didn't get to beat me in this round. Otherwise I would've been pissed off. :D

I definitely liked Mattador - Tired more than you (I rated it 9.5 and this is one of those ratings I'm sure about), but I can't complain about it. I just need someone to send another inferior ballad. Maybe Chad will send Fly to the Angels while he's at it. I could really use this pearl star.

Shadow Ninja 2.0 - Landon Tewers - Ma and Pa
  • When you first sent this, I thought the band name was a piss-take of "London Towers" but apparently that's the guy's name. :lol

This actually made me laugh when I read it on the train. :rollin

Regarding the stars: I think the amount of people claiming the bonus starts in particular category really matters. I think if there's only one guy in the category it's between silver and pink cost-wise, and if, say, there are four or five people in the category, it's worth less than bronze. It would add some value and purpose for picking the proper strategy. And I think the pearl star is worth a lot too. That's why I'm screwed in ruby category, but still hold a decent chance in the sapphire one.

I have a few songs I could send, but I need to listen to them a few times to pick one - and I'm really busy with rounding up my listens to EPs sent in my roulette, and other stuff too. I'm afraid I won't be able to send until tomorrow's evening, which is ~24-27 hours from now on. Sorry guys.
This first band is Soen very cool swingy jazz fusion kinda stuff.

I almost went with Kingdom of Gold from Privateering. Think I made good choice with Border Reiver though.

I honestly think Kindgom of Gold would've failed. It's probably my second favourite song from Privateering (after Submariner), but it seems Dave doesn't like Mark's voice and I think this ballad would've ended up in "good but nothing special category". Definitely good choice with Border Reiver.  :tup

I think you are right about the stars, Ruslan. However, I think that's where the pearl stars really come into play. I think a pearl star may be worth at least as much as if only one person were under a category, if not more. There's a risk there.

I'm holding off on my last star until closer to the end. I want a pearl star. I'm in 2nd place in two of the categories :lol

Yeah, I'm not sending my third star-worthy song until the Round 7 or probably Round 8. I've got a fair chance for pearl in ballad category, but you never know, someone can screw me over with one well-placed ballad entry. The last rounds will probably be insane and full of mind games on those bonuses.

I've got to say, I really like this whole idea about bonus themes and stars.

I too have planned my 2nd and 3rd bonuses for round 7 and 8 and I already know the songs. I hope we get like a short period of time where we can predict the final results between round 8 results and the final standings. This final round is going to be awesome.

Of course, there's a good chance of me not even being around by the time it arrives but we'll see past that :lol

Nice, I'll gladly take the gold star for that one. It is one excellent song.

I'll send for this round soon, still deciding which particular song to send from the artist.

I have one more bonus round fixed in my head, and the other one I have an idea for, but I'm not sure if I still want that bonus category because there's quite a bit of competition already.

i sort of like hammock at their most weightless and ethereal, which is not the direction they took on the new album. i mean sure there are tracks like that but there's a lot more tracks similar to the more upbeat ones on departure songs.
i mean it's still a hammock album tho so it's still gorgeous, but  :lol

Cool, you've been pretty much no help with the question in Evermind's roulette, hoped to get some sneaky info from there too but 'No.' could've just meant "No, I can't confirm anything". I like the mystery behind it all though.

Oh yeah, sent yesterday. If I get a coal star, Parama is to blame, and if I get a positive result it was all me

Alright, it turned out I was really busy (and I still am) with my roulette. Would it be alright if I send the song tomorrow? I'm sorry for holding this up but I just didn't have any time to pick out the song.

Not too confident this time around, but I wanted to send this band in this roulette and now seemed like a good time. We'll see how it goes!

The one I'm sure in is James Blake - Retrogade.

I think some of the bands are Thrice (Beggars?) and Xandria. Also could be Chelsea Wolfe.
