Hmmm, trying to remember the other times.  2001?  I cannot remember if the Ravens were back in the playoffs (pretty sure the Giants weren't).

1999 for sure, as the Broncos post-Elway and Falcons both fell way off.

According to the article that I found, these are the 4 pairs of SB teams that failed to make the playoffs the following season:

Washington and Denver in 1988

Denver and Atlanta in 1999

New England and St. Louis in 2002

Tampa Bay and Oakland in 2003

So as you can see, this is nothing new for Denver  :rollin

That just means we're in the Super Bowl a lot. :tup :tup

I wonder if any other team has had their starting QB retire in the offseason after winning the Super Bowl.  Denver has had it happen TWICE.

That is a great point... in the grand scheme of things, being a Denver Broncos fan is awesome  :metal I love this team.

Can't think of any other teams that had their starting QB retire in the following season after a SB win off the top of my head though...  :lol

Hell yeah!  I could make a huge list of great sports moments courtesy of the Broncos even if I didn't count the playoffs...

-The comeback win over the Chargers on MNF in 2012
-The comeback win over the Patriots on SNF last year
-The comeback win over the Chiefs in 1998 (trailed 21-7 and came back to win 35-31 to get them to 13-0 at the time); this might be my favorite regular season Broncos game ever
-Manning throwing 7 TDs against the Ravens
-That first win with Manning against the Steelers on SNF
-more magic than Elway than I can remember
-etc.

Plus, he was a cheating bastard.  The fact that he was fired for cheating once caught by the Broncos, and then immediately rehired by the Patriots, told us everything we needed to know about both organizations.

Yet you are ok with management cheating with the salary cap the 2 SB years.  All teams do that crap.

Doug Gottlieb was talking about possible MNF replacements if Gruden took a coaching job. Rex Ryan came up. I puked all over my keyboard.

While the Oakland didn't beat down the Chargers on Sunday, a beating did take place on the sidelines.

Post-Week 15 Power Rankings
1. New England - their defense, thought by many to be a concern, has now allowed the fewest points in the league
2. Dallas - gutsy win over an improved Bucs squad
3. NY Giants - the offense is still trying to get it together completely, but that defense is scary
4. Oakland - always impressive to win a road game in the AFC West
5. Kansas City - Chiefs biggest problem is their inability to put teams away, and that was on display on Sunday
6. Atlanta - back to back blowout wins without Julio Jones
7. Seattle - might luck into the 2 seed thanks to that non-call that allowed them to beat Atlanta, but this team isn't what it used to be
8. Pittsburgh - they never seem to win those road games where they come out flat, but they did this time
9. Detroit - this week is irrelevant; beating GB week 17 will be the test
10. Tampa Bay - despite the loss, there is a lot to like about this team

Trending Up:

Green Bay - on the verge of stealing the NFC North
Tennessee - I hated leaving them out of the top 10
Miami - looking to be the surprise playoff team this year

Trending Down:

Denver - 4-6 after a 4-0 start and will miss the playoffs
Philadelphia - this team needs WRs who can catch
San Diego - so many close losses this year

MVP contenders:

1. Matt Ryan - leads the league in QBR, and has a massive lead in YPA
1. Derek Carr - another 4th quarter comeback
3. Tom Brady - people who say he is clearly the MVP are delusional
4. Ezekiel Elliott - he make that offense go (okay, the o-line really does)
5. Marcus Mariotta - deserves a little love in the conversation

Really looking forward to what should be an epic clash between the Steelers and Ravens with the division title and playoff berth on the line. I anticipate a hard-hitting hard-fought game without the constant after-the-whistle nonsense that happens with Burfict and Pacman. The teams are bitter rivals but respect each other a great deal.

So the latest on the California teams....SD is looking to move to LA.  Ugh.  If that happens, the Raiders have said they would go to SD.  The thought of "San Diego Raiders" sickens me.  And it's just moving from one bad stadium to another!  I heard that the Raiders would want to build a new stadium down there, but that plan has its own difficulties.

If the Chargers move to LA, I heard that they might change their branding and/or their name.  I know the Chargers started out in LA, but the name seems lame to me, and the branding is old and not good enough for LA.

Talking to a Steelers fan/co-worker this morning about precisely the same thing. Cincinnati's dirty play has undone the Steelers last two playoff runs. The Steelers and Ravens rivalry is still among the league's best, and the teams go about it the right way. The Bengals are too toxic to find themselves in the same breath.

So the giants got some big fine and the 4th round pick moved to the last in the 4th round due to the walkie talkie fiasco.  I'm fine with that as a Giants fan.  They broke a rule and should be penalized.  What I don't understand are some of the media and fans saying it wasn't harsh enough for cheating.  Maybe I am looking through blue goggles, but I don't really see this as cheating, but not properly following protocol when the headsets stop working.  It was only for one drive and did not seem to have an impact on the game so I am not sure why the Giants are being compared to other teams who have cheated in the past.

Yea I am OK with that.  Salvation Army got lots of donations right after that.  But then again, I am fine with players celebrating in general and think the NFL is too harsh sometimes on that.

The penalty was too lenient. Having that walkie talkie for 5 plays is a huge advantage considering that the allowable headsets cut off with 15 seconds left on the playclock.  Like,... what was porn stache thinking? To have your draft pick moved down instead of taken away is a slap to the face of any Patriots fan who has endured the league's penalties for past transgressions... both legitimate and otherwise.

Look, I'm no Cowboys fan, and I waste no opportunity to rag on Jerry Jones (in particular), but c'mon.  First, fining Elliot is ludicrous, and even if they do, I imagine that it would be even MORE publicity for what (I think) is a good cause.  I thought that was really fun and playful and exciting (and again, I'm no Cowboys fan).

By the way, on that line, have to say, REALLY impressed by Dez Bryant.  Always dismissed him as a thug and a member of Jerry's Merry band of Outcasts, but he's really shown a lot of growth in my opinion.  I might be turning into a fan, actually.

If they were to fine Elliot, the only way I would say that's alright is if the fine went to salvation army and not to the league.  Like do somehting good with that money, but in reality it just doesn't make sense given the context.

Im thinking he didn't know the rules on walkie talkies.  Which is ok, ignorance does not make it OK.  And I agree that if they were talking after that 15 second cut off, then it does give an advantage, but dealing on the fly with a broken headset gives them a disadvantage for a moment too just to resettle into the walkie talkies, but then as you mention, it's only 5 plays.  Not like the game was blown because of it, heck they didn't even score on that drive, and the intent was not to cheat.  Granted, if they lost the 4th round pick too then I probably wouldn't complain either.  I just don't get the comparisons of cheating when a team was just trying to deal with the situation on hand not intently trying to go around the system.
