I never thought I'd say this, but...the game of the week is on Thursday.

Tell me about it.

Every team has players like that.  Even your beloved Steelers.

Yup.

NO?! I can't be...? They hold themselves to a higher standard!!! The Rooneys are awesome!! etc... etc...

For real though, you're right every team in the league has elements of that unfortunately.

In this big game that could well decide the AFC West, Carr is really struggling.

I will never understand why teams still throw that fade pattern, especially on 4th down with the game on the line.  It's a low percentage play!  Unless you have a Calvin Johnson or Mike Evans, guys who can out jump anyone, it's a terrible play call.

Chiefs are now in the driver's seat in the division.  I really did not think that was going to happen.  But then again, I also did not know about Carr's injury either.  It's going to be an interesting finish to the season in the AFC now.  I still feel like the Raiders are the "better" team.  But they made their road through the playoffs A LOT harder now, because I don't see the Chiefs blowing the division lead with 3 games left.  Things will get REALLY interesting if the Ravens manage to take down the Pats.  Should be a fun race.  I would love to see either KC or Oakland go all the way.  (no offense, but the Broncos just don't feel like a big threat this year, despite contending for a playoff spot)

Eric Berry
Alex Smith
Andy Reid

Those are three dudes that I would be happy for if they get a championship.

Agreed.  I don't actively follow them, so I'm not that familiar with most of their roster, but I wouldn't begrudge any of their guys a championship.  Alex is the dude I am rooting for most, for obvious reasons.  I was a fan of his while he was in SF.  And I think he really got a raw deal over the years from that team, and stuck it out like a champ while keeping as good an attitude as you could expect anyone to under the circumstances (and arguably better than you could expect).

Agreed. He was always very classy even while some pretty messed up stuff was going on under Mike Nolan (Nolan saying he was healthy and sending him out to play when he wasn't, for instance), through some terrible coaching staffs and terrible rosters, and even though I don't blame anyone for Kaepernick supplanting him, that had to seriously suck for Alex. I always root for him.

Funny how a #1 overall pick has basically taken on the role of underdog for pretty much his whole career.

Carr's throws just looked off kilter compared to normal.  I think his pinkie was bugging him more he wants to admit.  And now there's the "did the ball hit the wire or not?" controversy.

Regarding the Broncos, I agree, sadly.  I think they have 10-6 and a 1st round loss written all over them.  Too much instability at the QB position (thanks to Siemian not being able to stay healthy), and they cannot run the ball like they did late last year.  And while the D is still really, really good, it's not playing an all-time level like they did last year.

It's difficult for any team to maintain that level of play (defense). Being a Steelers fan, I've watched them fluctuate drastically at times over the last decade. I do think that Denver is still an elite defense. They just need a tiny bit of help from that offense, and they could compete with anyone.
All of this has happened before and all of this will happen again

It's difficult for any team to maintain that level of play (defense).

For sure, which is why none of the other defenses in the last 30 years that had historically great seasons and postseasons ('85 Bears, '00 Ravens, '02 Bucs, '13 Seahawks and '15 Broncos) repeated as Super Bowl champions, and why the Broncos are unlikely to do so this year.

Seattle/Green Bay games have been entertaining in recent years. Could have another classic in the not-so frozen tundra today.

I think that Cleveland gets a win today.

No Ravens game today, so I'll just watch 7 hours commercial free on RedZone and root for things that help the Ravens and/or my fantasy team.

Good hard-nosed battle today between the Broncos and Titans, which saw my boys come out on the losing end.  They were done in by their run defense, terrible offensive line and stooge number 3 and 4 WRs (one of whom dropped the go-ahead TD with 4 minutes to go and the other fumbled the game away at the end by needlessly fighting for extra yardage after he already had the 1st down).  Just too much to overcome this season, it would appear.

Big game coming up for a Giants fan.  I expect the Cowboys to win this pretty easily, but it would be nice to end Ezekliel's road win streak.

From the 'Only in Seattle' department, went to a kid's birthday party today and saw a couple wearing Seahawks jerseys: Him wearing #9 (Hauschka, the placekicker) and her wearing #4 (Ryan, the punter)

GB's D got their corners back, and Aaron Rodgers looks like Aaron Rodgers again.  And suddenly the Packers look like a team no one will want to play if they get in (and I think they will, since the Lions have some tough games down the stretch).

Meanwhile, I hope LA likes having football back. :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol

As someone that's wanted a  Janikowski jersey for a long time, this doesn't seem that strange to me.  Of course, he was the best player on the team for more than a decade.  I would have also worn a Lechler jersey, so props to them.  :tup

This is two games in a row Prescott hasn't looked good.  Makes you wonder if defenses are figuring him out a little bit, now that they have enough game tape on him.
